Where to start: My pregnant wife wanted tacos for lunch today so we went here. Upon arriving we don't see any signs indicating if we seat ourselves or wait. Once seated I immediately noticed the dirtiness of the booth. The utensils were different sizes making the aesthetic confusing. The table was greasy and food was stuck on it, the seats had chips along the edges. The menus were even greasy. The water glasses had water sitting in them so I didn't bother touching it. Once food was ordered, we received chips and salsa. (Best thing here). However, the chips to salsa ratio was laughably ridiculous. The Elote was frozen corn. 😞 The Baja tacos, frozen fish. 😔 The Mole burrito, frozen chicken. 😔 The deep fried ice cream, not deep fried. Deep fried ice cream is a dessert made by covering a frozen scoop of ice cream in a batter or coating and then deep-frying it. The coating helps keep the ice cream frozen while the outside crisps. It's often served with chocolate, caramel, or honey sauce. This was not what was given, along with 2 different sized spoons. My Abuelito would be disappointed with the food here like I was. The 2 employees with black gloves on, cross contamination hazards as they were touching EVERYTHING. The server who came in for her shift we had to order our dessert from as ours was nowhere to be found. She put in our order and then went outside in front of the doorway to take a phone call blocking the door for about 5 minutes. When going to use the restroom, the pathway was unclear and between the kitchen and setup station, which I can assume causes lots of blockage amongst other problems. The brand new paper towel dispenser had not been restocked so wet paper towels on top of the dispenser was apparently the best idea. When getting the check there was no interaction just the server setting it down on the table and walking away saying have a good day. I look at the receipt and it's scan to pay. Cash is still a currency. This isn't age speaking this is sensibility. In conclusion I urge them to follow health and safety guidelines first and foremost. Please stop using frozen proteins and corn. Make your employees aware of appropriate designated areas for private matters. I may return if these problems are fixed but sadly I don't think...
Read moreBad service, greasy gut bomb food. The guacamole was good, but the chips are refried Costco chips I think. We ordered our non-alcoholic drinks and they brought us the wrong drinks after about 10 minutes. This was also after much confusion and multiple servers asking what we wanted to drink. All of the servers in the place were asking what we wanted to drink and eat after we had already ordered drinks and food several times. We asked for more chips because we had so much guacamole and salsa left and the server took the empty bowl of chips and then started drinking water at the bar. Another 5 minutes went by before we asked one of the bussers for more Costco chips, which they obliged. It was very difficult to order our entrees and we had to repeat ourselves multiple times. The food finally came and while it was good looking, it was extremely greasy. The birria came with a bowl of grease with cilantro and onions floating in it. It was more like bland beef fat chimichurri rather than consumé. Like I said, gut bomb. We finished both of our drinks while eating and it took another 10 minutes before we got to ask the bussers for more drinks again. While we were eating, one of the bussers cleared and cleaned an adjacent table with Windex, which was blown by the fan all over us and our food so everything smelled and tasted like Windex after that. After eating we figured we may still try a dessert, but our main server took so long to reappear and then just asked if we would like the check, so we didn't ask for any dessert. He asked how many NA beers I had because he didn't know and he added up the total which was over $100 for guac, some tacos and non alcoholic drinks. He handed me the machine and hovered as I entered the tip. When leaving no one said goodbye to us. Not a friendly atmosphere and the food didn't make up for the lousy service. We had high hopes for this place, but we...
Read moreMy wife and I were excited to see that this place was opening in Everett and decided to try it out.
There was a little bit of a wait out front and it was a trifle unclear whether there was a wait list. As it turns out, there wasn't, but the wait to get seated wasn't too long after all.
My wife and I were a trifle peckish when we got seated, so we got an order of guacamole to start, which came with a generous mound of pico de gallo on the side. I was a little surprised (but pleased) when we got our chips and they were nearly too hot to handle. The guacamole was tasty, and had a good texture (not too chunky, not too smooth) and a little zing of lime. The pico de gallo had a little smokiness to it which my wife picked up on.
My wife got the Baja fish tacos, and she said they were good - she particularly liked that the cabbage was crisp and crunchy, and that the tomatoes were particularly tasty.
Since they were out of corn tortillas (it was opening weekend, and they were busy), I chose to get their chicken in mole sauce - I had planned to get a chicken en mole taco, so this seemed like a logical choice. The mole was rich and complex, with a pleasingly slightly burnt flavor - the closest I can come to describing it is that the taste reminded me of the smell of coffee roasting. It was easily one of the best moles I've had.
Sadly, neither my wife nor I thought to take pictures of our food, as we were too eager to give it a try.
I guess we'll have to go back so we can: Try other items on the menu (I particularly want to try the nopales.) Photograph our food. Maybe try some of the desserts - the flan and the plantain dessert both looked promising.
Totally...
