As a native New Yorker who’s frequented my Jamaican homes of coworkers throughout the years, I would say my palate is fairly versed in this type of food. Today my wife had a taste for Jamaican food, and there aren’t many options in Pa.. She searched and found Lighthouse and told me it was 30 minutes away and I said ok, let’s go. I expected high prices because that’s a standard for Jamaican cuisine, but we were not expecting the heavy handed pepper 🌶️ flavor throughout both dishes. We ate for about a few minutes and the sting from the Scotch Bonnet was more than I wanted to deal with as my first meal of the day. So my wife is Jamaican and Chinese and we’ve been together for 18 years so again I’m pretty exposed to this style of food. We couldn’t finish either plate. Both dishes were cooked the same way and varied only in the shade of brown each was. One was Oxtail and Cabbage, the other Stewed Beef. Both overly peppery and neither with any real flavor unfortunately. The Mac n Cheese helped with the taste a little but no much. Pluses: Rice & Peas, Cabbage, Mac & Cheese and the...
Read moreI ordered delivery and was extremely disappointed with the quality and care of this meal. The packaging was poorly secured, causing the entire order to leak through the bag and create a mess before I even opened it. Upon inspection, I found a long strand of hair in the cabbage, which is not only unappetizing but also a serious food safety concern.
The oxtails were excessively salty, to the point where they were nearly inedible. As someone who works in the food service industry, I understand the challenges of high-volume preparation, but this was a careless and unacceptable presentation of what should be a flavorful and comforting dish. I would’ve preferred to be told the item was unavailable rather than be served something of this poor quality.
For $33, I expected care, cleanliness, and at least decent flavor. This was a terrible representation of the restaurant, and I won’t be...
Read moreENOUGH IS ENOUGH It does not taste like authentic Jamaican food. It was ok.. It did not taste like I was visiting Kingston Jamaica in my mouth. Lol, I need that.
Service is a mute point u receive enough for u to get ur food and pay. They have very little customer service and will verbally attack bck if you ? Their food. LIKE THE BURNT MAC OR THE OVER COOKED BEEF PATTI
ENCLOSING It tastes more like Fake American Jamaican food. Overall, I would not order again and have given this business to many chances and ended with the same results disappointed. So i felt the NEED TO UPDATE MY FINIAL REVEIW after numerous orders of patti, oxtail, jerk, etc. If I purchase from there again it would be on a much smaller scale SOUP (GOOD) and be prepared for a hit or miss WITH THAT.
There is new Jamaican restaurant in Ewing by marazzio supermarket and Rita water ice. I'm going to...
