I find it perfectly satisfactory⌠now, at least. The only thing that annoys me is the staff who can be (based on the few people IâVE interacted with more) a little pushy or aggressive. Unlike other gyms Iâve been to, when I signed up at first, the staff told me I signed up at a perfect time because some big fee or cost (donât remember exactly what as it was a while ago) would be waived. Whatever it was exactly, it doesnât actually matter bc the guy was lying and toward the end of the process or before I would begin signing stuff (again kinda foggy since it was a while ago but you get the idea) he said something to the effect of âoh, Iâm actually mistaken, weâre only doing that for the PREMIUM membership, did you still want the basic one?â It pains me to have to say this about a gym I actually appreciate, but thatâs predatory lol. He didnât make any mistake. I knew he was gonna try to pull something like that.
They also are pretty pushy about asking for 5 star reviews in my experience. I work out by myself and dont interact with the staff much so I enjoy the gym and it has enough equipment for me to get a nice full workout in. If that were the sole basis of my review, Iâd give it 5 stars. But the entire reason Iâm writing the review is because they were very very pushy for a 5 star review. And I DO understand that people arenât just gonna leave positive reviews out of the blue. You need to ask, I get it. But too aggressive.
Also, if they can tell that youâre new to lifting or youâre at the beginning of a weight loss journey or whatever, they act more pushy around you because they think youâre more likely to sign up for things, which you probably would be. But as someone who is already a member, you should be able to just do your thing. After I put on a good amount of muscle, they completely stopped approaching me about training sessions and what not. That feels kind of predatory to me as well, but this is obviously just the experience Iâve had. Itâs really not a bad gym at all, and there are also a lot of staff I havenât interacted much with.
If youâre close, have a buddy to go with or a program to use, and youâre willing to accept that you need to either pay a lot of attention while signing up, or be ready to maybe pay a few unexpected fees, I actually WOULD recommend this gym. You usually wonât get people filming, the members are generally very friendly and more than willing to help or give advice if you ask them, plenty of attachments and imo good variety of equipment. Cleaning supplies are always stocked like they should be. At the end of the day, itâs just a gym. The biggest thing I take issue with is some of the staff, and Iâve seen some reviews and responses that really donât make the manager of the account look too great.
But thatâs why I keep to myself! Just keep saying no or tell them âIâll think about itâ if theyâre asking you for something you donât want to do. Itâs a perfectly good gym if you can handle the staff and a few fees. If you feel uncomfortable about the idea of dealing with that for a little bit, you can always sign up for planet. Thereâs one really close and itâs one of the much larger planet locations Iâve been to. Either way, youâve got options and what matters most is that you know what youâre getting into and know what your goals are. Urge doesnât NEED to be the means to your goals.
Iâm not going to leave a five star review despite their numerous requests, but I will leave four stars, so as not to negatively impact the gym. Consider it an olive branch extended on behalf of people who are nervous about signing up for the gym. Just treat them with respect. Donât try to take advantage of them. Greed will consume you if you let it. And donât clap back so hard at people in the reviews. It makes you look bad. Just apologize for their poor experiences and wish them well. If youâre actually interested in improving business, that may...
Read moreThis is the first gym Iâve ever gone to or purchased a membership for. The gym is clean and the showers get hot. Iâve never had a problem with staff there other than an awkward compliment but I can see how some can be considered rude. I just say hello and go about my business.
Please make sure you READ EVERY DOCUMENT they try to summarize when you sign up!! They will not teach you machines without paying for a personal trainer, which is like double the membership per year so I would suggest putting in some work at home before you buy the membership so you know what feels right to your body. Some machines have diagrams to show you what to do.
They also have a clause that says they arenât responsible for personal injury so I would really emphasize if youâre considering, make sure you know what your anatomy is like so you donât do the wrong thing with your body.
I should mention you have to commit to 12 months. I was told by a staff member that they only allow you to cancel without penalty within the first 2 months and the last 2 months of your contract. Please inform me if Iâm wrong urge.
With the premium plan thereâs no guests allowed, but every class except boxing is free, and you get full access 24/7. Itâs $30-something a month with a larger annual service/maintenance fee that comes way later. I think the premium is the best option because the basic membership has no classes included and very limited hours on weekends.
I personally would not get anything to eat or drink from here, as the smoothie bar is part of the front desk,,, but thereâs a drugstore and quick food places in the same shopping center if you need something. The other locations have a sauna allegedly; Iâm assuming the membership is the same price for each location so if you think a sauna comes w your membership youâd have to travel for it.
Iâve seen a couple signs in there about fees for not putting weights back, bringing people who arenât members, etc. I think thatâs doing too much but Iâm not the owner so why would they care lol they probably go on vacation with those fees.
I think a day pass for a guest is the same amount as a membership per month so make your choices wisely or go to the purple gym w your friends/family but I honestly donât have a problem w this gym so far. Been going for a month or 2 now. If anything changes Iâll write something else.
I know urge loves to read and reply to the reviews so if something I said is inaccurate, correct me without being passive aggressive. That may be very difficult to whoever runs this page, judging from the other responses. However, respect and neutrality are bare minimum for a professional account and there is an obvious pattern in which the representative falls short in...
Read moreABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE. During my one year membership period I moved out of state to Missouri for my new job. I came back during winter break to visit family and went in person to tell them that I knew one of the ways to get out of the contract was if I was no longer in the state and so they immediately stated they needed proof via email so it was in writing. I said no problem and sent them the email back in February after spending 40 mins on the phone with their customer service representative who took notes of everything as well. She said it was in their system and she had received the email and that everything was good from my end for the membership to be cancelled... Fast forward to June I have been getting HOARDED by their 3rd party debt collector known as "Aldous and Associates" telling me I owe $400+. Once again I explain them the situation that I have the proof in written email I sent them including my proof of residency back in Feb. They said they wanted me to send a physical copy (It's 2024, god knows why I assume just to make it more difficult for me) to their PO box. Did so and they apparently never received it and so I sent it again last month in July. Got a call from them today saying they still want me to pay and when I'm asking why as I provided clear proof exactly how they wanted to physically and digitally, the people reaching out to me "Britt" and "Pat" are saying that's just what it says in their system and I can send another letter to appeal explaining why I think I shouldn't pay. They are literally just ABUSING their power and THREATNING me that they will report it on my credit even though I have followed everything Urge and their collectors asked me to do that was stated in their contracts... AVOID URGE FITNESS by all means and go to planet fitness for a simple non contractual membership where they are 100x more understanding and the service is much better. I have attached the screenshot of the email as well and will continue to appeal to the collectors because I'm not paying for something I don't owe when I abided by all of the contractual terms and processes... (UPDATE TO THEIR RESPONSE) **no your contract terms were not upheld as it clearly says cancellation is possible if the member moves out of state. And only reason there was a âlack of paymentsâ is because you guys didnât cancel my membership even tho I came to you in person to do so and communicated with your sales team via phone AND sent all info via email back in February so please miss me with the...
