I've visited Anthony's Coal fire pizza many times over the last several years but mainly the Englewood, NJ site until it closed. Last Friday (3/17) me and significant other went to the Fair Lawn location for dinner and drinks. We placed our order pretty quickly as we're familiar with the menu. As we waited for our order to arrive we both began to notice it was chilly inside and we could feel the A/C unit blowing down. Now we realize we may have hit 60 degrees during the day but at the time we were at Anthony's the outside temp was down in the 50ies. We were sitting by the bar and we asked the bar tender to please raise the temp because we were feeling cold and increasingly uncomfortable. At this point we had our coats back on. The bar tender apologized and said the A/C has been on and off throughout the day. As we looked around the place, we noticed several people sitting around their tables have also placed their coats back on while eating their meals. Within 10 minutes or so we felt the air was turned off and at this time a portion of our order was in front of us. As we began to eat and converse with each other the A/C unit was back on and it got cold really quickly. Similarly as before, patrons began to put their coats back on. It was unbearable to sit and eat under the blowing A/C Unit. We again relayed our concerns to the bar tender and this time asked for box to take our meal to go. We generally have good experiences at Anthony's but that today it was definitely...
Read moreI was in the Wayne area & ran across this place, I loved it. So, I was happy to find that there was one even closer to me, decided to go, ordered to take home & quickly became disappointed. I love eggplant, which was what I ordered for myself (large order), a personal meat pie for my son & a strawberry lemonade. As soon as I got home, took it out the bag, I could see a difference. The eggplant was sloppily layered, lacked the tenderness, color & flavor, that I experienced at the Wayne location. The focaccia was 2 very narrow slices, herbless & bland.... at the Wayne location, they gave 2 nice sized slices (with a small order) & the flavor was amazing ( I could have ate just that by itself & been totally satisfied). The pie was passable, but not great & the strawberry lemonade was a bit off. The sad part is that I've been telling my son about this place for about 2wks & told him how amazing everything was, that my brother & I ordered. I'll continue to go to the Wayne location. The Fairlawn location did have a nice indoor/outdoor bar setting... so I'll...
Read moreThis restaurant use to be one of my top places to go for my family and I. The last handful of times that we have gone here I have noticed that the attention to detail has certainly fallen by the wayside. The regular wings (use to be my reason for going ) have become super salty to the point that they are almost not edible, the pizza comes just at the minimum done point instead of well done (the place known for well done pizza now I have to request well done and still don't get it), the floors and tables are continuously slipper and sticky, the place every night is billowing with smoke which causes eyes to burn and coughing. Another thing that my wife and I were made aware of yesterday as we thought we would go for a date night was drink specials are only available at the bar seating. If you happen to want to sit at a table your paying regular pricing. Honestly it saddens me to even think of it, but I think I may have eaten my last meal at Anthony's. The quality no longer justifies...
