I'm so glad that Fair Lawn is finally becoming more diversified when it comes to choices of foods. I ordered take out from here for lunch through Yelp. It was the first time I had ordered anything through Yelp and the process seemed rather seamless. However, I got there to realize that there was some sort of misunderstanding with my order and they only started making it 10 minutes after I got there. But anyway, that's ok, we all make mistakes and I can't really blame them much for this. I was rather hangry at the time but that's my own fault for not eating breakfast. They even gave me an extra chicken wrap to make up for it which was really sweet (I didn't try it though... too full right now!).
When ordering online (and I'm assuming in store), they have different levels of spicy ranging from mild to very spicy (1-4). I had ordered a level 3 but the guy serving me took it upon himself to decide that was too spicy for me and switched me down to a 2 without even asking and told me that I can try the 3 next time. I guess assumptions were made upon seeing me walk into the store. The food was still very tasty but I would have preferred my level 3 (or at least to be asked my preference considering they didn't even start making my food until after I got there).
Ok so the food itself... I had ordered two entrees, Chicken Tikka Masala/Makhani and Aloo Gobi. The chicken had more gravy than chicken but they used chicken breast which I really liked. The gravy was delicious too but a little more on the sweet side. Aloo Gobi was great and actually had a little bit of a kick. Each of the main dishes is pretty big and could serve 2-3 people, in my opinion. So if you're eating with a group, consider getting a variety of things to try. The butter naan was very fresh and tasty as well but I wish they had more of a variety of different naan (I love garlic naan).
Overall, great food and staff and I would definitely recommend that everyone try this place and rate it for themselves. I will be back to try other dishes. The pizza sounds really interesting so I will have to give that a try. They also do have seating in the store, there are about 6 tables. It's small but you should be able to find a...

Read moreIndian (state of Tamil Nadu in south India) eatery specializing primarily in the flavors of South India. They have standard northern India fare like Tandoori meats and other dishes, but they do what they claim to focus on.
The soup was a bit too spicy for me, but welcome considering the freezing temperatures outside and definitely warmed me up. It tasted spicy and a bit tart with the addition of tamarind.
The jumbo pepper shrimp was spicy, but the other flavors and lemon juice did justice to it. Definitely a must try for any visitor.
The plain dosa was okay as it could have been made thinner than it was. I prefer a thinner and crispier dosa. It could have used a tad more ghee as well. It wasnt bad, but could have been improved upon.
The main "thali meals" entree was good overall. I would've prefered the chicken curry with bones as opposed to boneless white meat to bring out the fuller flavors of the bird. The parotta was very good as it was light, flaky and crispy. The veggie dishes were delicious.
The chicken biryani was prepared and tasted better than some of other places that specialize in and serves it primarily all day long.
The rice was fluffy, moist and separated and I was able taste the ghee and the other subtle flavors in every mouthful. Chicken was delicate and not overly spiced.
The mango pulp pudding dessert was delicious. Extra sugar was not added as the natural sweetness of the mango carried the dish.
The service given by the co-owner Vimila was very considerate and attentive. The decor was simple and plain, but a clean environment...
