Last night was our second visit in as many months. After a wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary, we were excited to return with friends for another meal. We sat in the tent area after getting a drink at the bar. Our waiter arrived and began to rattle off the specials. My husband and friend were still talking when the waiter started his presentation and clearly their inattention bothered him. His snarky attitude continued when we order apps and when I said we would wait to order our entrees, he said okay, no, wait, on Saturday you have to order both. Odd, I thought when there were at least four empty tables in our section. We placed our entree orders. The server returned few minutes later to ask again which apps we wanted. Why don’t servers write things down? The apps were fantastic—muscles and an oyster sampler. The entrees were a mixed bag. My husband’s steak arrived medium well instead of medium rare. Even with the amazing sauce, no one can eat that. We sent it back. After far too long a wait, a bloody rare replacement arrives. Seriously? At this point, my friend eating the filet holds up a bite of hers and comments that it’s so delicious, especially since it’s cooked differently that how she usually gets it—she’s a well done girl but we suggested she try medium well. Her steak is clearly medium rare. The server (who couldn’t remember which apps we ordered) reversed the meat temps as well!!! At this point my friend is eating the ver my last morsel of his linguini and seafood. He loved his dish. We send back the second steak. I finished my (quite tasty) soft shell crabs. Third steak. The manager comes over with it. Does not introduce herself. Do not over a salutation. Plunks the steak down and says, “Cut right into the middle of that so we can see.” My husband, too bewildered to resist, cuts the steak and it is finally medium rare. The woman walks over to me and stands next to me. I look up at her, confused. She says that she thought we wanted to talk to her. Then she mumbles something about dessert and walks away. It was the least apologetic apology. They did bring a dessert sampler for the table. But they didn’t tell us what they were bringing or ask if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink until after they brought it to the table. Awkward. We had a great time because of the company but the service was disappointing to say the least. So one great visit. One not so great. Not sure if we will be back for the...
Read moreOceanos is one of those rare placed that deser more than 5 stars. An impeccable fine dining location, that serves outrageously delicious food from appetizer to dessert, all the way.
We made reservation for Sunday dinner, which was an excellent idea, as they get super busy around that time. The restaurant has a dark wooden estatic, but huge floor area to accommodate lots of guesta, both indoor and outdoor, all socially distanced.
It's a heaven for Oyster lovers, as they have a men section dedicated to just Oyester. One of their highlighted item is the 3 tiered Oyester tower tray that comes with many different kinds of Oysters.
The appetizer list has a solid collection of dishes to try. We ordered the Shrimp Saganaki and we were in luck. Shrimp was cooked perfectly, with perfect blend of tomato and feta cheese.
Our server told us about their daily specials that had three items. We went with the Chilean Sea Bass dish and Red Snapper one. The main course came out within a reasonable amount of time. We were pretty much stunned by the incredible taste and texture of both dishes. Probably the best combination Red snapper, lumb crab and creamy Risotto I had in my life.
For dess we tried the Ekmek and Vesuvius. Again, it was an unforgettable experience to taste Ekmek, a unique dessert that I have never heard of or tasted before.
The restaurant allows you to to take as much as time you like and enjoy your time at Oceanos. Our servers were attentive and helpful.
Overall we had an incredible anniversary dinner, on my way that we will remember for a while. Also, we have eyes so many other items we want to try, we will surely come back to Ocenos.
TL;DR:
Food taste - 5/5 Food prep time - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Price - $$$$ Restroom - 5/5
Items tried: Shrimp Saganaki - 5/5 Red snapper with lumb of crab, Risotto - 5/5 Chilean Sea Bass with lobster tail - 5/5 Ekmek -...
Read moreMy wife and I ate there for the first time. Maybe we didn't have what they do best? We had the calamari appetizer. It was a little strange--not the kind of battering/coating I'm used to for a Mediterranean restaurant, there were only "rings" with no tentacles, and the sauce was a kind of sweet and sour sauce. They tasted like they were from frozen, but that may be what's available this time of year. My wife had the scallop and risotto special for the evening. The scallops were bay scallops (so small ones) and prepared pretty well. But the risotto had a strange texture (not arborio rice, I don't think) and it was way too herby. The scallops were in a tomato sauce, but there was also a lot of olive oil just left on the side of the plate--not sure why. I had the prime rib. It was cooked to my request reasonably well (medium rare) and had a decent cooked crust on it. But the cut wasn't great--a lot of fat and grizzle in it. It was also underseasoned. The fries that came with it were really, really bad--soggy and cold, and also underseasoned. They felt like they were cooked from frozen in oil that just wasn't hot enough. The fries came with a straight up out-of-the-jar ketchup--I would have expected something nicer, like an aioli, for a dish at this price point ($65). The steak came with, I think, straight up A1 steak sauce on the side--also a not very nice choice. There were some side vegetables that were cooked just fine, but also not seasoned well enough. I thought the service was fine (prompt, attentive) and everyone was friendly. The atmosphere was fine, too. All in all, the meal wasn't worth the price. Also, nothing felt that Greek or Mediterranean either about the food. But maybe we picked the...
