MK Muay Thai — Local services in Fair Lawn

My children have been training with Kru Joe for over 3 years now and there’s a reason why we had followed him from a previous gym and now at MK — the kids love him. He can be strict, and with good reason, but he cares about the children and always gives his all in training them and imparting his knowledge in various forms of the sport. Since joining MK, the combination of teachings from Kru Joe, coach Isaac, and coach Augie have greatly improved my children’s skills. All the coaches from this gym are very supportive of each other, their fighters and with the children who wants to try out competing. The environment is very conducive to learning and everyone gives input and feedback which helped my daughter improve her craft. My 11 y/o son has been coming to MK for about 6 months now. We came from another gym and we are happy that we moved to MK. My son loves to train with Kru Joe and Coach Isaac. They have helped develop his self confidence and love for Muay Thai that he recently competed at the WKAs and will continue to compete because of the support he gets from the coaches, Kru Augie and coach Dina.

The kids’ class is fun, organized, well disciplined and serious that the coaches push the kids to their potential. It’s strict and they expect 100% effort and participation from both student and parent. The kids are taught not only striking and grappling skills but also respect, confidence, friendship, accountability and importance of hard work.

Everything was going fine for many months until the kids got a "new" coach a few months ago. Until they replace that kids coach with Isaac or someone else, avoid taking your children there. The owners and other coaches are awesome. The gym is awesome. Their payment arrangements and fees are awesome. Isaac is awesome. Augie is awesome. The adult instructors are awesome. But one bad apple has spoiled this whole place. Many kids really dislike this "new" kids coach and I won't be surprised if many families cancel their memberships (as we did) to avoid this guy. He is very disrespectful to the kids and the parents and even goes as far as threatening violence towards them. He is very unprofessional and should not be anywhere near children.
