Sage Restaurant: A Taste of American-Italian Comfort in Fair Lawn Nestled on a quiet street in Fair Lawn, NJ, Sage Restaurant offers a charming and inviting escape from the ordinary. This American-Italian eatery has become a local favorite for its delicious food, warm atmosphere, and friendly service.
The moment you step inside, the aroma of fresh herbs and garlic fills the air, setting the mood for a delightful dining experience. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting, with exposed brick walls, cozy lighting, and comfortable seating.
The menu features a tempting array of classic American and Italian dishes, all prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. From hearty pasta plates and succulent steaks to flavorful seafood and creative vegetarian options, there's something to please every palate.
My personal favorite is the Sage's Signature Spaghetti and Meatballs. The pasta is cooked al dente, and the sauce is rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of sweetness and acidity. The homemade meatballs are tender and bursting with savory goodness.
If you're in the mood for something a little lighter, the Grilled Chicken Salad is a great option. The chicken is cooked to perfection and served atop a bed of fresh greens with a variety of toppings.
No meal at Sage Restaurant is complete without dessert. We shared the Warm Apple Crisp, a traditional comfort food that was cooked to golden perfection. The apples were soft and gooey, and the cinnamon crumble topping added a satisfying crunch.
The service at Sage Restaurant is just as impressive as the food. The staff is friendly and attentive, always willing to answer questions and offer recommendations. They make you feel welcome and ensure that you have a pleasant dining experience.
Here are some of the highlights of Sage Restaurant:

A Hidden Gem in Fair Lawn!
We recently dined at Sage Restaurant and were absolutely blown away by the experience. Despite having moved away years ago, the staff remembered our names, which made us feel incredibly welcomed and valued. The service was exceptional, and the food was nothing short of spectacular.
We took advantage of their two-for-$60 offer, which provided an abundance of delicious food. We started with the Prince Edward Island Mussels appetizer, which was bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The side salad and chicken soup were delightful preludes to our main courses.
For our entrees, we had the Honey Roasted Salmon and the Tuscan Ragu. The salmon was the best we've ever tasted, with perfectly roasted vegetables that complemented it beautifully. The Tuscan Ragu was off the charts phenomenal, rich with flavors that left us wanting more.
To top off our meal, we had the Peach Bread Pudding. Despite not being fans of bread pudding, this dessert won us over completely. We cleaned the plate and discovered a new love for bread pudding.
If you haven't been to Sage in Fair Lawn, I highly recommend you check out this gem of a restaurant. We've never been disappointed in all of our visits, and if we hadn't moved away, we would still be frequenting Sage regularly. The owner is very hands-on, and the staff is exceptionally nice. Five stars...
Read moreIt looks low key from outside but a must visit at this quiet looking place. Different from popular fancy NY perhaps
We happened to walk by this place around 4 PM and were likely their first guests of the day. From the outside, it looked unassuming — but the moment we stepped in, we could tell it was an upscale, fine-dining experience.
The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, and the service was exceptional. Our server — I believe his name was Derrick (definitely started with a "D") — was top-notch: professional, poised, and clearly seasoned. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over six years myself, I can confidently say he knew exactly what he was doing.
I ordered the Penne Arrabbiata and it was prepared just the way I requested. Along with that, we were served complimentary bread and soup — a thoughtful touch that added to the experience. The service was seamless, and Derrick was attentive to the fact that we were in a bit of a rush to catch a train at Broadway station. He even packed the rest of our meal without us having to ask. Thanks to him, we made it just in time! 😉
This place might appear low-key from the outside, but don’t let that fool you. It’s a must-visit — a refreshing break from the typical flashy spots in NYC. Highly...
