I visited this place twice, and sadly, both times left me feeling disappointed. It seems like the reviews might be coming mainly from friends, family, or church folks—probably because the food didn’t quite live up to the hype.
During my first visit, I ordered baked chicken over rice with greens and black-eyed peas. The chicken was dry, looked like it had been cooked days earlier, and tasted reheated. Who messes up baked chicken if you’re a true cook? I ended up making my own that very night. The greens beans were overcooked and mushy, and while the black-eyed peas and collards weren’t terrible, they didn’t taste freshly made either.
On the second visit, I tried a turkey wing with macaroni and cheese, green beans, and chop steak. Unfortunately, it was more of the same—food that seemed to have been prepared days earlier, old and then warmed up. The restaurant was nearly empty, and the staff appeared to be sitting around, which didn’t give me much confidence about the freshness of the meals. Honestly, it felt like everything was cooked on Friday for Sunday and just left sitting in the fridge.
I’d love to see them focus on making fresh food daily—surely that would make a huge difference. It’s a shame because I really wanted to support a local spot, but the quality just didn’t match my expectations.
Long story short, I won’t be returning. I prefer sticking with chain restaurants that prioritize consistency and freshness. I wish them well and hope they consider making some changes—maybe even adding a little more TLC to the kitchen. And next time, I might even bring a camera to record the “leftovers”—just for fun! I really started to bring back all 4 meals (from last Sunday and this Sunday) and drop them off at the front door just to show my...

This is TRUE home cooking and soul food. EVERYTHING on the menu (and there is a wide variety) is phenomenal! In a day and time when good customer service is nonexistent, the entire staff here is personable, attentive, caring, and kind. I felt like a member of the family. The entire dining experience is a perfect pairing of excellent food and high quality service. And for those sweet tea lovers out there, the tea is a solid 10/10.
This is one of Fairburn's most treasured hidden jewels. Give them a try. I promise that you won't be disappointed. It is well worth the drive.
Both dine in and takeout are available. Not sure about delivery.

Read moreI visited this restaurant for the first time today, for lunch, based on a recommendation. Unfortunately it will be my last time. I ordered 2 pieces of fried chicken with a side of Mac and cheese and it cost me $13.75!!! The chicken was fried so hard i had to tear it apart with my hands. I saw the cook with a bin of already fried chicken that he just dropped in the grease for a few minutes then it was served to me. The macaroni and cheese was old, dry, and had no cheese... more of an egg consistency. For the price I paid, I expected far better quality food and I just did not get it. I had to throw it away as it was not edible nor worth "eating it because I paid for it." Very disappointed by my experience and waste of hard...
