Oh my, this is my first time eating at this spot. I had a taste for some hotdog especially chili slaw dog. I was too lazy to do it myself and now I really do regret it. The owner or manager gave me a sample of the, chili, slaw and beans prior to me ordering. The beans were on point. My mom had called me right before ordering. I told her what I was wrong and she had a negative remark in regards to the food. Afterwards, she said that it might be better today. I decided to order. I order the Carolina Slaw Dog, Boston Dog, Sweet Polish Dog. Sweet Potato fries and decided to go ahead and try the 1/2 Smash burger. I waited a few minutes for the food. Gifted a blueberry lemonade. I had questioned the freshest of the food prior to ordering. I was informed that it would be fresh. The food was shown to be of course covered in the toppings. The sweet potatoes fries didnāt look too fresh to me but I didnāt want to try them with unclean hands. The burger looked thick and fresh. It took less than 5 mins to get home and got cleaned up to take a picture of my items. I tasted my fries and it wasnāt even hot to touch nor crispy. I decided to cut my Carolina and Boston Dog in half. I took a bite of the hotdog the hotdog itself did not taste fresh. It seem to be reheated on the grill because the inside of the meat was dry and the outside of it wasnāt fresh looking as a grill hotdog will be especially after being cooked. I squeezed the meat and barely no juice. Presentation was okay until I moved the toppings to check out the meat. I am very disappointed. The burger seems to be the same. I donāt have a problem with waiting on fresh food to be cooked. Donāt precook my food and reheat it and say that it is fresh! I spent too much money to be disappointed and I want to support my people business but stop cutting corners. I try not to do these reviews because I donāt want to hurt anyone business but I was ask to do a review. It could be the cook that is cutting corners and the owner isnāt aware but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a solid review because we need a good hotdog restaurant on the Southside and we truly want to see them succeed.
I wouldāve happily gone five stars, but for one reason and one reason only ā the hotdogs lacked flavor.
Everything else? On point. The presentation, variety, quality, quantity, and price are all fair and well-aligned. No complaints there. But when I bit into my Carolina slaw dog and my old man bit into his LA dog, we literally looked at each other at the same time like⦠āWhereās the flavor?ā
Now let me be clear, the atmosphere is A1. Clean, attractive, good vibes, great music, and the customer service is solid. My ole man LOVED the old-school Kool-Aid selection like a kid in 1977. On top of that, the owner gifted us each a house lemonade since it was our first time, which was dope and appreciated.
I can absolutely see this spot becoming an integral part of the community if they just tweak the flavor profile of the dogs a bit. This is 100% the perfect place for little league teams to pile in after a good single hitter during the week or a double header on the weekend. Folks on this side of town will show up and support great food ā especially hotdogs.
Welcome to the Southside, The Original Hotdog Factory! Me and mine truly hope you stay around for a long time. We LOVE hotdogs and we would much rather slide down the street than drive all the way to The Varsity downtown...that traffic, no ma'am!
Thanks for an awesome experience. Keep up the good work, and just turn that seasoning knob up one notch, you'll be around for...
