Bombay Cafe in Fairfax is the kind of place that feels like a little burst of warmth and flavor right in the middle of town. From the moment you step inside, there's this inviting aroma of spices that just makes your mouth water. The menu is packed with all those classic Indian dishes you crave, from creamy butter chicken that's pure comfort food to flavorful biryanis that are layered with spices and tender meat. They also have a great selection of vegetarian options, which is always a plus. I've tried a few different things there, and you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the care they put into the cooking. What I really appreciate about Bombay Cafe is the atmosphere. It's not overly fancy, but it's cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for a casual weeknight dinner or a relaxed weekend meal with friends. The staff are always friendly and happy to offer recommendations if you're feeling adventurous or unsure what to order. Oh, and you can't forget the naan! It comes out all warm and pillowy, perfect for scooping up all those delicious sauces. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new, Bombay Cafe in Fairfax is definitely worth a visit. It's become one of my go-to spots for a flavorful and satisfying meal that always hits the spot.

*I have not been in that area for past year or more...check other more recent reviews and pricing. I will still go back based on prior great experiences. Delicious curries, keema, baingan and biryani, mango lassi. They are open every day 11:30am-11pm (**this appears to have changed to 10pm...and my first visit, they were open until 1am, so you should call first if you'll be late to confirm their hours). They have about 6 vegetarian choices and 4 non-vegetarian. And a great platter deal where you choose 2 or 3 entrees with rice and dessert. Been there twice and will definitely keep going back!! Both times appeared to be popular spot, but line moved fast. **I've been 2 more times now, and equally delicious and good variety of entrees...super friendly. They are on an alternate route between me in NC and my mom in PA, and I occasionally choose to go.the longer way just so I can stop there.

We dropped in for a quick lunch. We are not super knowledgeable about Indian cuisine. The shop had a section of Sweets, an area to order "plates" and a small seating area. The plates section was like hot buffet bar. We wanted tandoori chicken but ended up with chickpeas and lentils over rice with a small tapioca-like dessert. The food was very tasty. Midway thru the meal a cook came over and, sensing our lack of familiarity, told us what we should have ordered and gave it to us. The place was very busy. There were numerous catering orders being picked up. I have no doubt this was not an Indian Michellin 5 star. But the food was good and plentiful, the staff was friendly. And the place was clean. We both left feeling stuffed for about $20.I would be happy to go back.

I wish I could give this place 0 star, but since that’s not possible, they are stuck with 1. I went there with a few friends of mine to this awful place few days ago and right from the word go, the cashier, about 23-27 year old looking guy had an attitude with us, wouldn’t speak out loud so we had to ask him to repeat himself a few times that made him agitated but not our fault for speaking under his breath, then asked for a specific thing from the menu, he said he doesn’t make those on orders and he removed a lid from a buffet section and showed me I will get that if I went ahead and ordered it, and if I had a weak stomach, I promise I would have vomited right there and then because the item he removed the lid from, was dry and looked like it’s been sitting there for days, then moving on to ordering another specific item, he said the same thing, he couldn’t do that simply bcoz it was too late for them to make anything bcoz they were about to close (mind you we went there at 8:50 and they close at 10pm) then we asked for chutney (green sauce) they charged us $3 for a tiny little cup which usually people give for free or charge a dollar, my friend asked for another small cup of sauce to go with other food, which to the same cashier replied “I already gave you one, can’t give you any more without charging you” it’s one thing to look at a customer and say no nicely, but it’s another to look totally opposite way and mumble something else under your breath after saying no rudely! We ordered side dishes, and our total came to $60, I can only imagine if they were nice enough to let us order any entrees, our total would have gone well over $100! Food was disgusting, customer service was even worse and seating area was just as dirty! NOT coming here ever again and whoever reads this, please save your time and money and go to else where bcoz they clearly don’t care...

Been going here for a while. Sometimes i drop up to 50$ for takeout food. The other day sent my husband to get my food and they shorted me change by 10.00. When he realized it i called. the guy on the phone said let me check with the manager. Then he says we can't give change. And since we did not have a receipt. I told him can you look at your tillar and you will see that your 10$ over. Then he goes back to the mgr and asked him what we can. By that time my husband was on his way. Then the guy on the phone says he said we can give food. I said i don't need anything only wanted what i sent for. I said Well can i get a voucher for another day. He said yes, then he says no because the manager said he will hang your name with the amount on the wall. I said what wall and if the paper is not there what then. So, at the end i opted for a 10$ plate. the kid then says sorry to my husband for the lack of not checking the change and shorting him 10$. My Husband who is a store mgr gave the kid back a 1$ and explained to the kid when he saw the kid confused. The reason for this 1$ is because with this 10.00 plate that you rang up you will be short a dollar. There was a white lady buying her food after my husband and said to the kid after hearing this i want my receipt please. And the kid still gave her shortchange and she called him on it. SO EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THIS WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO MANY WHO GO THERE AND SHOP FOR THERE FOOD. MAKE ABSOLUTLY SURE YOU COUNT YOUR CHANGE AND GET A RECEIPT!!!!!!!! They lost my business. For sure. And unfortunately ever since that manager has been there i have not been going there that much. Because he is...

Warning !!!!! Very important to read before go there* They have new trend that giving an extra item complimentary of $3 value when your buy for $25 or more. Unfortunate I had ordered my dinner which was beyond the $25 bucks. The girl insist me to get one of the complimentary item. To be very honest, after seeing all the items, I was not interested none of these as she was insisting, so I took a Paneer Kathi Roll which they use to sell in $3. How they make this Paneer Kathi Roll? Whatever is the LEFT OVER end of the day, specially vegetables, they wrap in the flatbread and keep there to sell in $3 or to make their customers happy with extra food as gift. Story is not finished yet. I had purchased my dinner on Feb 7, 2015 and the roll they had given me had clearly written Feb 5, 2015 as expiration. So food was already expired before they give to me. I have not given the attention while eating but after eating when my stomach was started hurting and feeling lot of severe colic, I had checked the date on the cover which was still sitting in my trash bag and it was hand written printed 2/5/2015. I just had the blind faith and faced this issue. Another story of the onion nan at this restaurant is, we ordered 3 onion nans. I have a knowledge of cooking so I had figure out the chef just stuffed onions in the Bhatura's floor not the real wheat floor. It was just a joke that guy cook a onion bhatura. I did not complaint them at that time but this Paneer Kathi Roll was really a great lesson for us. Be Careful before get such kind of items from...
