My first experience with Lazy Dog was delightful and Ms. Shelby was an amazing person and I Ioved her, but today I went again and the experience was not as pleasant. When I first entered the restaurant we were seated immediately, but we did not get a server. I was confused at first because when I first entered the building there were three available in the front. I realized that maybe I was possibly being treated unfairly and unjustly because of my age and possibly by how I looked. For context I was not dressed fashionably or fancy because I was coming to enjoy one last meal with my friend before he went off to Egypt and we were in a rush. I think they thought because we did not look professional and looked underage they put us into low priority and took a long time giving us a server. This would have been fine if this is where the problems end, but unfortunately this was just the beginning. After around 8 minutes we finally were greeted with our server and he looked as if he was in a rush. I understand that many servers are overworked and are very busy, but would it kill to give someone your undivided attention when asking for their order? This was a little irritating, but I let it go because of the memories I wanted to make with my friend before he went on his trip. He asked us for our drinks and we requested two waters. Somehow this also took an extended period of time, but I still kept my cool and didn't say anything. Our server finally brought us our waters and asked us for our orders. I ordered the fettucine alfredo with shrimp (24.95) and a side of tomato soup, and my friend ordered the baja burger (I am not familiar with the pricing on that). They then proceeded to take around 25 minutes to serve us our food and now I was very angry. You may think 25 minutes is a very reasonable time, but every single time I came previously they gave my order within a 10-15 minute period. This also infuriated me more after adding onto the previous indifferences. When I finally got my tomato soup I gave it a taste... it was cold. They somehow took ages to give me my food and somehow served it cold. When my fettucine alfredo came out that also looked like it was sitting out as well. I then proceeded to let my server know that I would not be eating this meal, but I still paid for the meal and added a tip as well. To give props to the server though he immediately went to the back and attempted to make me a new tomato soup, but my mood had already been ruined and I was dissatisfied. They also did attempt to give me a refund but they did make me my food still, so I wanted to pay. I am not making this review to talk bad on Lazy Dog because it appeared everyone else in the building was getting great service besides us, and I am also not making this in order to receive my money back. I am making this so this specific Lazy Dog and all staff available today understands and learns on todays scenario. I don't wish any of these people bad, but they need to learn and not do what they did today and end this type of...
Read moreI visited on a Thursday evening to finally sample food so close to where I live. The interior and bar area looked clean and inviting, even if there were fewer customers this day. Bar service had a pleasant, attentive, and almost Chick-Fil-A like quality throughout my two hours eating. The guy behind the bar checked on me at appropriate times, knew when food should be arriving, and removed plates rather promptly. I ended up ordering brussel sprouts to start followed by pot roast and lemon chicken dinners and finishing with their apple huckleberry pie. The food had something of a homey feel to me and uniformly manageable and reasonable portions.
The brussel sprouts arrived warm within several minutes after ordering. They had a properly charred look and taste to them along with a brininess from the capers and lemon. The cheese on top would have been enough of a garnish, but the croutons were crisp and added still to this appetizer. A little more garlic flavor would have put this dish over the top for me. The pot roast was cooked well and had only a couple of small bits that were mainly fat. The mashed potatoes were smooth without tasting of too much cream or butter, and the spinach retained its earthy taste as the garnish. The carrots could have been cooked a minute or two more to takeaway some of the crunchy texture. The gravy was not too salty or gluey and had just about enough volume to go with the other ingredients. The lemon chicken had a similar charred flavor as the brussel sprouts and was cooked well while resting juiciness at the thicker parts of the fillets. The cauliflower mash was just as good as the mashed potatoes, and the green beans felt properly cooked. A little seasoning for the green beans and uniform thickness of the chicken would have nearly perfected this offering for me. The pie had a freshly-made tasting crust that did not feel overly buttery in a good way. The thin pastry has a slight crunch on the top and pleasing to eat in its own. The apples were cooked properly and not over sauced in the middle. Be warned the huckleberry component comes in the form of something like jam consistency at the bottom of the pie with the apples on top. I found this combination interesting even if I wanted more huckleberry flavor. The ice cream was smooth and thankfully generously portioned.
The total bill for these offerings stood at just under $70 including a refreshing light aqua fresca. The value in this meal came from the earthy, homey feel to the entrees and the pleasant service. I could see myself coming here to watch a game or treat family or visiting friends based on what I experienced. I would like to return to sample other fare in the meat category such as meat loaf and burgers and maybe one or two other desserts that caught my eye. All in all a visit I am...
Read moreThis was my first and last time coming here, I was really excited to come here cause I pass by it all the time. So initially walking in looks great, hosts are super nice no issue,. Then we get seated, and again no issues but then there's a noticeable time gap from us being seated to meeting our server, again looks kinda busy, (it wasnt) so no biggie, finally after maybe 10 min we meet Jordan the server, I'm kinda on my own time crunch (not the restaurants issue at all) so I tell him we would like to order our drinks and food (i mean we had like enough time to look over the menu) we go to the restroom and come back and drinks are there, no issue, btw have not even talked to Jordan since the initial drink order. A few moments pass by and our food arrives, but we are missing 1 of the 4 plates. No issue it should be out soon, maybe 5 -6 min pass by and no food, I stop eating so I don't make niece uncomfortable while she sits there watching us eat, also my burger was disgusting and tasted burnt while still pink in the middle, so I get up and head to the kitchen and can't find anyone to help me, I then finally wave down Jordan and tell him we are waiting for her meal, just for him to say "ok I'll check on that" then just go to another table and take their order. I wave another server down and say the same thing I don't know where he disappeared off too but then I waved down the most nicest host (she deserves the full tip) and she ran to the kitchen and brought the food out immediately. She then took it apon herself to get me the manager the manager was "empathetic" and just cut the bill in half, and asked me to tip the server, like NO! (I DID) but I would rather pay the full bill and not tip the guy who literally didn't SERVE ME, I ENDED UP leaving 18% tip which I regretted cause the server didn't deserve it, also I asked the manager for boxes and then after passing my table like 3 times Jordan brought me boxes and a paper bag that was glued shut. Honestly this was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Don't comp food cause your server is mediocre, and also to the bearded guy with a nose piercing and hair to the side, DONT BRING OUT HALF OF THE ORDERS AND THEN...
