I know everyone probably comes here for the bubble tea, but I love taking my kids here for the food.
I'm Taiwanese American and I really miss all the street foods that I used to be able to get in Taiwan. This is my way of being able to share some Taiwanese food with my children.
In particular, we love the popcorn chicken. The curry, basil, and garlic are my favorite. We also love the braised pork ride (lurohfan) and Takoyaki.
We've also ordered the chicken drumsticks, which are always hot and delicious. As a dessert, I really enjoy their herb jelly which has red bean, grass jelly, and boba. I also want to add, I love how soft their boba is.
Just note that it takes a little bit longer to cook the popcorn chicken or especially the drumsticks because they do make it fresh for you. I would say maybe it takes at least 10 minutes.
I'm not sure why I'm finally leaving a review right now. I actually went to Vivis for the first time in New York and it made me really happy to learn that they eventually opened one up here in Fairfax.
I also want to add that I feel like their popcorn chicken price is really good. Other places you get a smaller portion and sometimes cost 12 to 14 bucks which is crazy to me. That's another reason why we keep...
Read moreFor last 5 days, I was been 5 different bubble tea stores since I just liked them. Since I tried 5 different places, I would like to compare the product. And today, this was my first time trying the bubble tea at this place. With my experience, compared with other places, mostly the milk tea is already included pearl(bubble) with its price. And any other drinks bubble is an option. But the lady was asking me for bubble as option topping which charged me $0.50 for it.
This place is bit higher price than other places for same drink. I paid more than $6 for Taro milk tea with Pearl's. I always go for 50% sweet, less ice. Other places is about $4.95 plus tax, and it's including pearls. Taro tasted nothing different but less flavor. Also the tapioca (the bubble, pearls) tasted nothing. Usually other places serve with sweetened which was better. Maybe these recipes is only available at Vivi. But if I knew the taste, I wouldn't have to order today. Next time, I will just go...
Read moreI don't like giving bad reviews, but I'm making a rare exception. This was the worst bubble tea experience I've ever had. The milk tea had a terrible flavor, almost like the water they used to make the drink was dirty. The boba had a disgusting texture. My kid described it as bring "grainy." He took some out of his drink and they had a weird appearance, like if boba can be rotten. After drinking about 50% of his tea he said he didn't feel well and he ran outside to vomit. Once he threw up a few times he was fine. He just needed it out of his system. I am angry that my kid got sick. I don't know what is wrong with the tea and boba at Vivi, but we won't return to this location. Ever. (Just for info, we get bubble tea 1-2 times per week. We love...
