wanted to give this place a second chance with my family. came here two years ago and was extremely disappointed. this time around, we get there and right off the bat they didn’t have straws to the point where other tables were using dunkin donut straws. the old man who was our waiter first didn’t give us any specials for the restaurant when we got there to the point where the owner/manger told him and switched out another waiter to us. thankfully all of our entrées we ordered were in stock. however, the atmosphere was very unwelcoming with the owner/manger yelling in the kitchen about what they’ve run out of. then we got to our dessert, the nice waitress gave us a run down of desserts. originally ordered apple crisp (did not have), chocolate chip pie (only had one slice when we ordered two). the owner/manger came over to apologize for the lack of food due to a busy weekend, that should not be an excuse to not have food or desserts for the next day. it was the same experience as the first time we went there. there seems to be a lack of communication between the kitchen staff and the waiting staff because the wait staff doesn’t know what the kitchen does not have until after it is ordered. really wanted to give this place another try but will definitely...
Read moreI decided to check out Micheal Angelos because of the great reviews. We ordered mussels for appetizer, which were ok and a Margharita pizza as the entree. The mussels came out and like 2 minutes after, the pizza also came out. The waiter sat the pizza at another table while we ate the mussels. When we were done eating the mussels he brought the pizza to our table, which was already cold. I was already aggravated because the pizza had came out with the appetizer and was just sitting there. I told the waiter we didn't want the pizza anymore because it was cold. He understood....he was puzzled himself as to why the pizza had came out with the appetizer. Shortly after the cook/manager, whatever he was, came to our table and asked us what's wrong with the pizza. I told him it was cold and didn't want it anymore. He then became confrontational and said "It's not like it's your entree"....Sir! That was our entree!! He then said he can heat it up for us. Really, reheated pizza at a restaurant! He then walked away with his nasty attitude mumbling under his breath and making hand gestures. We did not get an apology nor did he acknowledge that they were in the wrong. The waiter had more sense than he did. He acknowledged the issue...
Read moreExcellent food! Service is very good too. I would go as far as saying some as the best Italian food in Northern NJ. To the people complaining it is too busy, sorry the world is not dedicated to just you. When the food is this good the restaurant is busy. Portions are plentiful, we always leave with leftovers to fight for at the next days lunch. The red sauce is amazing and tastes like real Italian food. The pasta is home made just as this place did in Newark 30 years ago. Must try the Sunday Gravy..Great variety of dishes beyond pasta. The double cut pork chops are a favorite. We have been there several times with multiple people and everyone always raves about the food. We drive almost an hour and it is worth it. Nice casual atmosphere with a feeling of sophistication. Not a place with screaming kids running around but where you can enjoy a nice Italian meal with family or friends. No kids menu as it should be. You want chicken fingers and miniature hamburgers go to McDonald's or teach your kids...
