Cool, cute atmosphere, fun that you can play some games while hanging out drinking coffee or snacking. Owner was playing some chill acoustic guitar. I want to say it was perfect because of that... I'm really not looking to make war(craft) or anything, but the food and drink were a miss for me! Cookies looked amazing but were dry, and while maybe just preference here, the Linguica bun was too salty with that crystalized salt on the outside, as the cheese and linguica are already salty enough. Furthermore, Latte was asked hot but served luke warm, so the milk may not have been truly steamed. Latte flavor ended up mild. Made some discussion with the staff about caffeine, didn't feel like arguing but can't say I agree with their facts. I avoid caffeine due to a moderate med interaction, but kind of got talked into it. They were just trying to be helpful I think, but I was told caffeine in espresso is like 30 mg (not much more than decaf), and that also "8 shots = 1 regular coffee for caffeine" but according to the USDA it actually avg's 63 mg... so it's only like 25% less than caffeinated drip coffee. And according to their website, they do a double shot for their Latte, unless the website outdated. That would def be more caffeine than drip! I wonder where they got all that information. I'll be okay though, just caffeine is something I generally need to avoid. I also disagree about decaf being "over-roasted and burnt" in general, as decaffeination happens prior to and independent of roasting, and the loss of flavor molecules depends on the decaffeination process. It's also a fine art though, and it really can be hard to find a good decaf bean, but swiss water decaf is generally better than chemical decaf for instance. So idk, if the decaf truly is burnt I'd recommend scouting for a better supplier for it. Anyways, overall was pricier than expected. They've increased their prices but haven't updated the online menu to show that. Had a decent time though, so I'll just go middle of the road...
Read more"The Nook" has created a menu of unique, delicious coffee beverages based on combining chemistry with carefully procured high-end coffee stones.
Nitro Coffee is The Nook's gift to Southeastern Massachusetts. Nitro stands for "nitrogen," and it affects both taste and texture of the coffee, resulting in a somewhat-creamy, somewhat-sweet coffee even when served black as I had it. I didn't need to add anything to it, and despite tasting as sweet and rich as it did, my delicious cup of the Nook's Nitro Coffee contained no more than 2 calories.
I also sampled the Nook's Nitro Latte, which is cold-pressed espresso blended with water and milk. Again, the creaminess of the nitrogenation process allows them to use less dairy, and a cup will cost you a mere 80 calories, or about half of what an equivalent-sized latte would expand your waste by at Starbucks.
Finally, I also had the "Local Buzz," which is a peppy "grown-up grade" coffee-flavored milk built on top of the Nook's homemade coffee syrup and consisting of vanilla combined with all-natural sweetening ingredients such as maple syrup and local honey.
You can't go wrong with any of the beverages I tried, but perhaps my favorite thing I ordered was the Nook's Linguiça Roll.
Within the Nook's rendition of this regional treat, spicy slices of browned linguiça sausage swim in melted cheese, encased in a buttery, sweet, soft, bread-y roll. Ask that they heat one up for you and prepare to be blown away by the combined flavors of this simple, yet devastatingly effective pastry that has been immaculately engineered such that the whole is greater than the mere sum of its parts.
Conveniently located in Fairhaven's beautiful waterfront and bustling "downtown" area, and walking distance from Fort Phoenix beach, on a street with plenty of street parking available, the Nook is a destination that I expect will delight both locals and visitors (such as myself) for many...
Read moreI could not recommend this one-of-a-kind place more! Every person who walks in is treated like family. The staff is so understanding a patient, they have no problem helping you find something you would enjoy. Their memory is impeccable, we went in there once and asked to try something new and the barista remembered every drink we tried that season and made recommendations, then asked if we wanted our regular orders for the kids from memory, and the kids weren't even with us.
I also was going to have their baker Katie make the desserts for my wedding. She was so thorough in her emails and really listened to our wants and needs, even after we found out we wouldn't be able to use her (conflict with another caterer) she was so kind and understanding.
And last but not least the food and drinks are to die for. I came from a house hold that made EVERYTHING from scratch, and this is the only place were the baking has trumped with my mothers. The coffee drinks are crafted so carefully with the best ingredients. Its so impressive how much they know about coffee.
I'd give a thousand...
