Thyme On Section — Restaurant in Fairhope

Let me start by saying that the front of the house was weeded and understaffed. There were only 2 servers and 8 parties, many of which came shortly after we did. They needed way more help than they had.

Food was very good. Service was lacking. Unfortunately this has not been an isolated issue, we've been multiple times with the same problems. Service is very slow. 10 minutes passed before being greated at the table. We ordered apps and asked for just another minute to discuss entrees, with the hopes that we could order in just another minute or two (like when our drinks came). Except our drinks came another 10 minutes later, were dropped in a rush, and the server left without asking if we were ready. In fact she didn't come back to the table until we were done with our apps about 15 minutes later. That's 35 minutes into our meal and the server hasn't even asked us about entrees.

Anyway, dinner took far longer than expected. Almost every other table came in after us and left before us. And honestly all would have been forgiven over dessert (that I would have happily ordered) but my server dropped the check after clearing our dinner plates. She was obviously done with us. Fairhope is such a lovely town with delicious restaurants, and now I can add Thyme On Section to my list as a new favorite lunch destination. The restaurant is small and cozy. We had to sit at the bar, but that was no problem. It was Friday afternoon and quite busy. The wait staff was really hustling, but still, our food came out in a timely fashion. I ordered the grouper blt with sweet potato fries, and it was delicious. It was on toasted sourdough bread fully dressed, and the fries were hot and tasty. My mom ordered the gyro with fries, and my aunt ordered the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant with sweet potato fries also. The gyro was huge, and my mom enjoyed it, but her shoestring type fries were overcooked and hard. That was the only hiccup in an otherwise delicious lunch. The wait staff seemed to consist of 2 ladies who were really handling the dining room. They were pleasant despite the volume of people they were serving. I hope they are recognized for how they and the kitchen kept things going without losing their cool, definitely great employees 👍🏾 I will definitely be back when I visit Fairhope again. We went for our Anniversary. We had horrible service by brittany! My steak wasn't cooked correctly so I sent it back. I had ordered medium well to well. It came out medium rare. She brought it back within minutes of sending it back and of course it still wasnt fully cooked. I told her again and she became rude and defensive saying I had ordered medium well. I said yes and this is bloody and not medium well. The rest of the time we were there she was very standoffish and didn't even offer us dessert. She just brought check and dropped it off. She asked every other table around us if they wanted dessert. Bottom line, the food could've been okay but no reason at all for her to treat us this way!
