I am a frequent Chipotle customer, and this experience left me feeling disrespected, embarrassed, and discriminated against.
I ordered a bowl and attempted to pay with cash, but the cashier refused to accept my payment because one of my bills had a small rip. When I asked why, she did not provide an explanation and instead told me I needed to use a card. When I requested to speak with a manager, she claimed that she herself was the manager but refused to provide her name when I asked.
At that point, I prepared to pay with Apple Pay and picked up my bag to confirm that I had my salad dressing and water cup. The cashier then snatched the bag out of my hand in front of staff and other customers and walked away toward the kitchen. When I asked why she did this, she accused me of “trying to steal” my food. This accusation was completely false, unfounded, and humiliating.
She further stated that she would only remake my bowl if I paid first, otherwise she would call the police. This is contrary to Chipotle’s usual process of ordering before payment, and her hostility was shocking. The entire situation escalated in a very unprofessional manner, with her refusing to give her name or a business card.
As an African American customer, I strongly feel that her behavior and accusation were racially biased and discriminatory. This was not only unprofessional, but it left me feeling targeted and extremely uncomfortable at what is supposed to be my neighborhood Chipotle.
This entire interaction was witnessed by staff and customers, and I have it recorded on video. I am certain the store’s security cameras also captured what occurred at the register.
Given the seriousness of this incident, I respectfully request a follow-up to discuss this matter further. If helpful, I am willing to provide the video evidence I recorded. I would also like to know what corrective actions will be taken to ensure no customer is treated this way again.

I have been going to chipotle for many years with my children and order the exact same thing at every chipotle. But this one they said they can’t do it like that and they would have to up charge me . I ordered a child’s chicken quesadilla and asked that the chicken he put on the side. The meal then comes with two sides I asked for rice and cheese. Then was told I would be charged for the chicken . When I pointed out that the chicken was part of the quesadilla, and that two sides should still come with it, the manager became extremely rude, and refused any reasonableness. If this is how this chipotle is going to be run, I would stay clear!!! You would think the manager would have some customer service skills and not lose a lot of business a month over something silly. My average ticket at chipotle is $45 and I usually eat there at least once a week most of the time twice. To be treated that rudely like I was trying to get over on him, to be that unreasonable and ignorant. Great power trip....

Yesterday is one of the craziest and hilarious moments an old women was going off and yelling at the employees because she was being aggressive ordering her food and when one of the employees almost made an mistake by picking up sour cream by accident instead of guacamole, keep in mind she had 3 other bowls and after the one small mistake she made a big dramatic drama just to start yelling how bad the chipotle was and they’ll never come back. 😂 As I was watching the employees reactions….
