The Beacon Diner — Restaurant in Fairview

Usually good food and great Service. However yesterday I was there for breakfast and was disappointed by the service from Adrian. We had not sat down yet and he was already asking for our drink order. I said I was not sure and he kept asking, oj, cofeee?? I had to tell him to please come back. Once he was back I asked what kind of tea he had and he shrugged his shoulders and pointed to the counter. I had to leave the table and go to the counter to check what tea was available. Then I ordered a Raisin Bran muffin and he said what corn? I said no Bran, I looked it up on the menu and pointed but he continued to not understand. He finally found it after several minutes. My boyfriend then ordered a Buffalo chicken omlette but wanted to sub the bread for a shortstack. We told him we knew there was an additional charge and it was ok. He said ok so no home fries? I had to explain that we wanted the entire meal sun pancakes. When the food was delivered only one set of silverware was bought. He never checked on us again after bringing the food. Eden he brought the check I was on my phone making an appointment and he said are you paying card or cash? We said card and he immediately reached his hand our. Usually servers leave the check and give us a moment. Especially if the customer is clearly occupied. I did not tip him due to this horrible service and he came back and said you didn't add a tip on the card? I said no and left. Horrible...

I understand there's almost no staff but this was not because of it. The waiter saw me waiting, he took over 17m to arrive to just ask what we want to drink. Said that appetizers and food will all come at same time cause he can't come back I guess! Said that the marinera sauce that goes with appetizers will come at end?? Needed extra drinks, not even once offered if we need anything, or if we were happy, nothing, had to call him 3 times for the check. While all this lack of customer service is happening...a family of 3 white customers walk in, I time him, it took 2minutes and 34 seconds to arrive to them, treat them like they are the only person he is serving, their food gets there first than ours, nice! offered drinks and constantly ask them if everything is ok. I don't get that treatment,, when he finally decides to acknowledge we exist (we are people too) and notice I couldn't finish my food cause I was so upset he goes and says "if u didn't like food, tell manager" ???? Nope, I just won't tip you, my food that cost almost $85 dollars was not leaving tip behind, neither complaint with anyone....nobody does anything that's what's wrong with this place, the entitlement of some, and those who endorse it ....last time I came wasn't ok but decent, prior than that the manager saw me unhappy without me saying a word notice the issue and fix it.... now manager saw I was unattended, manager had a meeting, manager saw the long wait,...

The waiter was nice but the food was not. We also ordered rolls for the onset of a brunch and it never came.

We got the orders before the bread.

Two of us ordered pancakes and they tasted stale as if they were frozen and then reheated. They were clearly not fresh and they were burnt. The eggs had a very eggy smell. Gross. Couldn’t eat it.

We ordered fries and they were super greasy. Perhaps it was a busy morning but it does not excuse that got brunt pancakes.

The hash brown was cold and seemed a bit undercooked. Didn’t eat it.

I tried to eat what I ordered and could only eat it so long as the whipped cream and strawberry was there.

I got so disgusted and felt like throwing up that I had to get up and use the rest room.

I ordered gingerale and it was just about flat.

This was a first time here and most likely a last.

There was a booster under our table and the table was dirty as it still had the payment left by the prior customer. And I had to use a nap king to clean it. Still we stayed.

On the up they are respectful and nice. So two stars for the staff.
