Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Fall River

I applied for a job here called several times just to talk to the "hiring manager" finally 8 calls and 9 days later i FINALLY talked to the "hiring manager" and scheduled an interview with him. The day of the interview came i got to the restaurant at the time for my interview the manager who i set up the appointment wasnt even there and a server told me to come back a half an hour later. I left and went back exactly a half an hour later. The same server saw me and let me to the so called hiring manager i shook his hand introduced myself with a firm handshake. The hiring manager told me to wait up by the door and that he would be up to talk to me in 20 mins. I walked upto the front the 20 mins turned into 45-50 mins. The hiring manager never came over and apologized for making me wait for almost an hour he saw me waiting, and knew i was there but he NEVER CAME OVER AND APOLOGIZED. Then finally another manager called me over i got up and walked over to him and he told me i was supposed to meet him. I KNOW THE MANAGER THAT MADE ME WAIT 45-50 mins was the guy that was supposed to do my interview but he passed me onto another manager. I got the job anyway. I got a card with the person for my orientation, the time and date. I was so happy to be hired. I called back a few hours later to ask what my required outfit was for my position. I went to the store with my mom and fiancé and my mom bought the colored clothing i needed for my job and when the day of the orientation came it was a snow storm and the roads were bad and my rides car was fish tailing and sliding around on the road and i still made it to my orientation about 20 mins early. I was greeted by a server i asked for the person that was supposed to have my orientation with the server told me to sit down and i did then the person who was supposed to do my orientation with came over. I introduced myself and told her i was there for my orientation and she looked confused and looked at me as if i was from another planet. She told me that the manager that hired me NEVER left a note or even called her. HOW HARD IS IT TO CALL A NEW GM AND LET THEM KNOW THEY HAVE TO TRAIN SOMEONE???????? The GM told me that either she or another manager would call me back on monday to schedule my new orientation time and monday came and i had to call THEM BACK and i explained that the GM never knew i was coming or that she was supposed to do my orientation. The manager told me to call back the next night. I called back the next evening and the manager told me that i was a perfect candidate for the job but unfortunately they couldnt hire me due to "budget issues" they knew about the budget issues yet they still hired me. They are so unprofessional i would not recommend anyone to work...

So once again I found myself at Applebee's today with my wife. I do sometimes get tired of complaining about establishments that I go into, but this time it really does need to be said and the outcome of a conversation with the manager over it.

When you first walk in it looks like it always does there was even a small crowd of people there today. What I did notice was under the tables it was pretty messy meaning it looks like it had not been cleaned at least 3 hours. Also there were crumbs on a number seat as well as the usual stickiness on tables and the bar. Today was one of those days when the barmaid was actually servicing tables as well. Apparently they need to do this to make some money.

We ordered drinks witch took forever to arrive, granted it wasn't that crowded but again the barmaid was waiting tables so it took longer to get our drinks today. What bothers me is I ordered a glass of Pinot and with my Pinot came an incredibly wet glass with lots of tap water all over it from being rinsed off. Yes I sent it back, if wanted tap water I would have ordered tap water. My second glass arrived and it was atrociously dirty! Even after wiping off the fingerprints from the outside it's still had incredible residue of something on the inside including the rings from prior drinks.

Dinner was adequate I had fish and chips hold the chips give me a Caesar salad, thank God they finally got romaine lettuce However, the fishe was slightly overcooked Yes I know it was fried but still you can cook it without overcooking it. My wife had quesadillas. She assured me they were quite delicious.

I had discussed my displeasure with the waitress and the next thing I know the manager shows up. After exhaling to get my composure I realize this is the fourth manager I've spoken to now in the last 2 years at this particular Applebee's. But, this one seems different. He truly was interested in what I had to say, he explain to me the various solutions for some of the problems and seemed offended that the glass itself was as dirty as it was.

Well now, that was a first. I told him that I would write in my review that we have spoken and he plans to make some changes. I had told him he needs to fix his kitchen, he told me that was a pretty broad statement and asked for specifics so I gave it to him. He seemed incredibly distressed so there may be hope for this restaurant after all.

I've been coming to this applebees since 2012. I was a regular till a few months ago when I moved away to CT. I knew everyone by name and vice versa. I brought them so much service and money over the years, I can't even begin to explain. The food was always great for the price, service was awesome and atmosphere was friendly all around. Now ever since moving I visit, and this is my go to restaurant...

Until last night. I've noticed their quality deteorating over the last few months, but figured j was just getting the kitchen on bad days. Apparently not. The menu has changed, prices have stayed the same or gone up, but portions have gotten much, I mean MUCH SMALLER. Like they smushed my mashed potatoes on my plate to look like more, but I wasn't fooled. My steak was over cooked and bland and side were flavorless, and even salt and pepper didn't fix it. My fiance's got stir fry and it came with no sauce or seasoning as well. Our server was awesome, professional and the only good thing about our visit. His name was Adam and he comes highly recommended. After taking 2 bites and not being able to eat my food, I brought it to his attention, not trying to benefit or be comped, but just so he knew. He said he'd talk to the manager about making it up to us. The manager came over to talk to us and before I could even say anything he was condescending, rude and displeased. His name was Gill. gill offered to comp us our meal, so we agreed (with the intention of getting appetizer and dessert and still spending money there of course). He aggressively removed our plates, while my hand was still holding the silverware that rested on the plate. He didn't let me finish my sentence, grunted and walked away... Purely unprofessional.

This is not what I'm used to from this restaurant. I don't know what's changed besides your menu and method of cooking, but it's simply unacceptable. Not returning till you work on your management. Again, our waiter was outstanding and had nothing to do with making this a...
