This place is amazing. Total comfort food style restaurant. The prices are great. Really, really good, and really, really fresh seafood. Their Portuguese/kale soup is some of the best I've ever had. Pretty much everything seems to be homemade here. Portions are ridiculous. Even the mashed potatoes are the bomb. All the waitresses, and bartenders are so nice. The chef is a really great guy, and will come out to speak with you to make sure you're happy. And seems to have no problem changing stuff around, or substituting things to please you. I forget exactly what I asked for, but it was something along the lines of getting a meal that had two things as the entree. Like a surf and turf type thing. And swapping out one of them for something else. Like stuffed shrimp for stuffed fish say. And he took my order personally, made me a huge portion of both. And they didn't even up charge me for it! This meal was a gut buster for real! It was about twice what I can normally eat. And was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it. My only complaint was that I ate too much, and wanted to take a nap afterwards but I had to drive home. Which is obviously all their fault for making it taste so good, and for giving me too much. The rat bastards! Lol
That's old school service right there. They have the lottery there if you like that. Including Keno. I went there one night, and hit for over $100. I got dinner (an enormous double burger), and drinks. Left two big tips. And walked out of there with over $90 more then I went in with. It's an old school club. So you get your drinks from the bartender, and the food from the waitress. Then you pay separately. That's why the two tips. But the best part about the whole place is the awesome people that go there. If you are a friendly person, and want to go somewhere you've never been to. But still be treated like you're a regular. This is the place. I went in there by myself one night on my way home from Providence, and ended up talking with everybody at the bar, including the bartender for hours. And this really great couple shared their vacation photos with me even. One guy invited me to go to Nantucket with them for the weekend to see some live music, and stay at his friends place! Unfortunately I work weekends, and couldn't take him up on the offer. But how often does that happen?
I absolutely love the city of Fall River, because of it's people, it's history, and it's food. And while there are some absolutely off the chain restaurants there, especially for Portuguese food. And some may even have better food, albeit at higher prices. No place beats this place for an overall experience. No it's not fancy in there. No you won't meet the Rockefellers. But that's not what I want anyway. I want real people, and real good food with a smile. This place has that in spades. An absolute treasure. If you look at my other ratings. You'll see I don't give many places 5 stars. Only the finest get that. This place gets 5 and a half! I pray they never change, or go out of business. There's very few places left like this. Read moreFirst time in my adult life I experienced a local racist Karen while dinning in a restaurant and I’ve been all over the world due to my service in the military. I was going to the bar when I overheard her say, “See, there’s another one they let in and they broke into the restaurant two weeks ago.” In fact, she was so loud everyone in the room heard her. I went up to her and told her she didn’t have to worry about me breaking in and that I was a retired police officer. She didn’t miss a beat and asked where I was from and when I told her CT, she said it was even worse there because of the immigrants and homeless people and that they were also taking over her town. At this time I could see she was drunk and unapologetic about her statements. The poor guy sitting next to her looked like he didn’t want to be there. When I told my friends and wife what had happened, my wife wanted to confront her but I told her the Karen wasn’t worth it. On a good note, everyone loved the food (see photos) with the exception of the calamari because it was tasteless and not fresh. And they have a weird two waitress system where one takes the drink order and the other the food and it didn’t work efficiently for us as two drink orders were completely forgotten. I give the atmosphere two stars and not one because the waitress was friendly and also for the two super friendly women at the next table. I think they heard my experience with the racist Karen and wanted to make us feel at ease and it worked. We all agreed we would eat here again and give it...
