I don't know if this restaurant changed owners, but the food went back to being good. When the old man was there, my family ordered and ate there often. When he left and the younger couple was there, the food quality went down, and we stopped coming for about 2 years. Christmas 2022 we we ordered pickup (no more dine in). All new faces and the food was delicious, Except for the twice cooked pork (my personal favorite), what happened to the pork???. We have been ordering from Hunan Cafe for 4+ years and I cannot say enough about this place. I have never had a dish that wasn't fantastic. The food isn't greasy, the vegetables are always crispy and perfectly cooked, the sauces are flavorful and not too heavy, and the meat cuts aren't gnarly and the shrimp are huge. To address some of the previous (and OLD) comments specifically - the chicken fried rice is FULL of flavor and chicken... it is one of the only things our picky toddler will eat. The staff is always extremely friendly on the phone... I have never had a communication problem. Stayed in Falls Church for the night and ordered take out since it was getting late. We ordered a Lobster lo mein, 2 Egg rolls, and Crab rangoons. My girlfriend said the crab rangoons were good. I opened the Lobster lo Mein and noticed there was no Lobster meat, only fake crab meat. I am from New England and know what Lobster looks like and tastes like. The noodles were ok but the fake crab meat tasted terrible. Then i got to the egg rolls they were actually spring rolls that did not taste good either. I would think hard before ordering...
