I recently had the pleasure of visiting Lil City Creamery in Falls Church, Virginia, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The standout feature of this charming ice cream shop has to be the exceptional service provided by two young and friendly employees. They were not only welcoming but also incredibly knowledgeable about the fantastic ice cream they serve.
Speaking of ice cream, the quality here is top-notch. The flavors are not overly sweet, and you can truly taste the organic and natural ingredients used. It's a refreshing change from overly sugary options at some other places.
The store itself is clean, well-organized, and brimming with character. The owner's collection of action figures and cartoons adds a unique touch that sets this place apart.
Parking was surprisingly hassle-free, with ample space in the back of the store. It's a rarity in this area, and it's definitely appreciated.
A little background on Lil City Creamery: it's a small establishment with a rich history, making it a local gem. While the place is cozy, you can enjoy your ice cream in the little park next to it.
The only drawback is the absence of a restroom, which can be a bit inconvenient, especially for families. Nonetheless, Lil City Creamery is a great spot for a sweet treat, fantastic service, and a touch of nostalgia. It's a must-visit for anyone in...
Read moreSoft creamy ice cream, reminds me of gelato. I can understand why the lil city creamery gets it name, its large enough for less than 10 people to be packed in like sardines.
I was bummed that the creamery didn't have "Wedding", Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough or the Coffee Heath Bar flavors as advertised on its website. After sampling a few flavors, I landed on Cookies and Cream in a waffle cone.
Although I saw the "no sprinkles" sign, I couldn't help but ask! I love vibrant sprinkles to top my ice cream, but to my dismay the shop doesn't carry them. As the quality of the ice cream speaks for itself, I can understand why the shop doesn't carry any toppings.
Although the ice cream was soft and creamery, I would have loved to see more cookie pieces, there was a bit too much vanilla. I also wasn't a big fan of the other flavors and felt like they had a strong base flavor with a subtle topping mixed in. The ice cream is a bit bland.
Parking is an issue as there are reserve spots for CVS and Towing signs plastered all over. As soon as my husband and I got our ice cream, we ran back into our car.
I honestly prefer Toby's Homemade Ice Cream a few miles away, but would be back if I'm...
Read moreThe shop size was very tiny. The portion size for the price was very small and the decor was out of place for what they were trying to be. The ice cream was only marginally better than getting a pint of ice cream from a grocery store freezer section.
Edit since the owner reached out below so I will elaborate. The decor is out of place. The signs make it seem like it is an old fashioned place that many people are nostalgic about and travel to for the aesthetics along with the ice cream. When you walk in you just notice a bunch of figurines and Funko Pop style items that doesn't fit with the signs. Then the space inside is very small. They could probably do better as a food truck rather than a brick and mortar location. As far as the ice cream goes, they had very few flavors to choose from and they were about on par with haagen daaz ice cream from the...
