TLDR: Not my favorite pizza place but pretty decent and a fair price. Full disclosure I haven't tried their specialty bechamel sauce pizzas. If I come back I'd try harder to find a specialty that I'd like as you could put in egg on and that looked really delicious. And I probably will be back sometime.
All of the specialty pizzas that they had used to bechamel sauce which I didn't see it as an option listed for the custom pizzas. Further, most of the specialty pizzas had Red Onion on them which I don't like. So for a minute I thought about trying one and just taking it off then I saw a big note above the specialty pizzas saying no modifications or substitutions. That turned me off so I didn't even try. Now it's quite possible that they still would have taken the onions off I may never know.
I ended up ordering a lunch portion custom pizza with 3 toppings pepperoni sausage and half of it with Gorgonzola cheese.
The crust: Thin, crisp and delicious as you'd expect in a Wood-Fired oven. While it was crisp on the outside it did have a nice give in the middle so it wasn't like a thick crunch it was more like a snap and chew, which is my favorite type of crust. It had good flavor and was not overly floured. The first slices I had that were end pieces that had little toppings or sauce. Fortunately the other end didn't have this problem.
Red sauce: standard, it wasn't anything amazing, not was it bad. It had a few chunks of tomato that I thought could have been cooked down a bit more but overall it was decent.
Toppings: The pepperonis gave that nice curl that some people like and some people don't they were the correct thickness not overly thick, or overly thin. The sausage had the taste of fennel so if you don't like fennel you may not like their sausage I do, so it was an enjoyable surprise for me.
Cheese: Standard, nothing special. Correct amount used.
Overall it's solid Pizza but I don't think it's anything extra ordinary or extra exemplary.
The place was pretty busy when I walked in but I was seated right away and while it took a little while for them to take my order service was pretty prompt for you know making a custom pizza for me and you know throwing it in the fire. The server was pleasant and breathe which is appreciated. They probably would have sold desert had she asked if I wanted any. Not because I was left hungry with from the pizza it was actually pretty filling for lunch portion Pizza, but where I was seated I could see all of the desserts and entrees and pizzas that were coming out and I had a pretty good view of everything and the dessert that they had that day was brownie square with ice cream and it just looked really good so that's why I probably would...
Read moreDon't waste your time unless you're a hipster purist and like food that's kind of bland and over priced. After a long day of driving and sightseeing my wife and I stopped in to get some food - we were super hungry, and read all the rave reviews. I especially was excited for the buffalo meatballs. Well, we ordered the meatballs ($8) and we received 2.5 meatballs - that's right, 2.5 meatballs on a plate. One of them was cut down the middle, and the other half of it was missing. What's ever worse - they were tiny little meatballs - they looked like the things you'd take out of frozen bag from the grocery store. Second - my wife got a glass of wine - they served it in a water glass. What kind of restaurant served wine in a water glass? Third, one of their special pizzas sounded really tasty - the only problem, it had a cream sauce - and for dietary reasons I cannot eat cream sauces - so I asked if I could have that pizza with a tomato based sauce instead. The answer "no - we can't substitute anything on our pizzas, they are how they are." Seriously? For someone with dietary restrictions you can't swap out a sauce? I'm not asking you to change all the toppings, just put a different base sauce down. I was beyond pissed. More than half the pizzas at the place have cream sauces, so that made my selection rather limited. The pizzas we wound up getting were just okay - but not worth the high price. Definitely will never come here again - you'd get a better pizza...
Read moreWe arrived about 30 minutes prior to Thursday night close. Seating was relatively quick and friendly. Our server came by pretty quickly and took our drink orders. She was friendly and helpful. When she returned, we talked with her and decided on the hummus with vegetables, pita and lavash as a starter. Then the Margherita pizza with balsamic drizzle. This was one of the daily specials. Hummus came out quickly and was excellent. Pizza took quite a while to come out. When it did, we started to cut into it and the center section was literally raw dough. We called over the person who seated us and she readily agreed and took it away. Our server brought it back a minute later, apologized and suggested that we pick around the edges while they fired another for us. When she brought the second one, the bottom was pretty burnt. When we pointed this out she suggested we might want to try something different from the menu. By that time it was already 20 minutes past closing and staff were rushing around doing clean up. Although there were still other people that had been seated after us, we felt pressure to get out. We ate sections from each pizza. They were really very tasty. It was just the soggy crust that was a turn off. Truth be told, I ended up scraping the toppings off and eating that wit the crispy outer crust. We were really baffled as to how the “special” of the the day could go so wrong 2 times in a row. It wasn’t like we added a bunch of toppings to...
