Weekend in jasper hotel Fargo was mixed experience
PROS
Lobby Ambiance: Upon entering Hotel Jasper, the warm and welcoming ambiance of the lobby immediately sets a positive tone for the stay. The inclusion of a pool table, bar, and lounge area adds to the inviting atmosphere.
Central Location: Situated in the heart of downtown Fargo, Hotel Jasper offers convenient access to a variety of eateries, local shops, and cafes. The bustling street adds to the vibrant energy of the area.
Clean Rooms with a View: Despite a mix-up during check-in, the room was clean and offered a nice view of downtown Fargo. The bathroom was well-equipped with all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.
Friendly Staff at the Bar: The staff at the hotel bar were notably friendly and accommodating. They provided excellent service, and the quality of the cocktails was commendable.
Cons:
Stressful Check-In Experience: Unfortunately, the check-in process was stressful due to a mix-up with the room type. Despite booking a king room, a twin room was provided without an apology. This lack of attention to reservation details was disappointing.
Missing Room Amenities: The absence of basic amenities such as a kettle and bottled water in the room was surprising, especially considering the price point of the hotel. Having to request these items from reception detracted from the overall guest experience.
Incidental Cover Charge: While a $50 incidental cover charge is standard practice, the requirement to redeem a complimentary $50 voucher on the same day felt restrictive. Although the voucher provided an opportunity to enjoy drinks and starters at the bar, the limited timeframe for redemption may not be convenient for all guests.
Overall, Hotel Jasper Fargo Downtown offers a mixed experience. While the lobby ambiance, central location, and friendly bar staff contribute positively to the stay, improvements are needed in areas such as customer service during check-in and the provision of room amenities. With attention to detail and enhanced guest services, Hotel Jasper has the potential to provide a more consistent and enjoyable stay for guests
Also just read more review and answer by the owner ,a lot of guest have written about the lack of amenities like drinking water in the room and a standard apology is being rendered , that’s no good!!! Business loss will follow of this...
Read moreWe reserved and paid for 2 rooms back in January 2023 for a May 2023 stay, upon arrival the front desk said I have 1 paid (non-refundable) room and 1 reserved room that will cost more then the previous night in same room but for nearly 100$ more. This was inappropriate to be charged at this price when I booked both dates many months in advance and provided card number for both to be paid for. In addition to this I also asked that the wine and chocolate be delivered on the first night of our stay, it was delivered 4pm the 2nd night of our stay. We were in our room 4:30pm to 5:30pm the 2nd night of our stay and left for a meal and activities outside of the hotel. We arrived at hotel about 11:30pm an couldn't gain access with our hotel keys through garage entrance and when we went to the front desk they said we're checked out. We assured them we were just in our room and not checked out just a few hours previously (4:30pm to 5:30pm). He saw we had a room and understood there was a issue and provided us a master key to be used to go to our room and sleep and then return once we check out. He called our room (room #1021 for reference) at 6:30am and asked for the key and said he will come get it. He got it at 6:45am. This was extremely frustrating as we were highly anticipating our stay in this hotel as we always travel to Fargo to visit our family and place we lived for many years. Unfortunately, there was no solution offered to remedy any of the frustration we had, only a card for guest services phone number and being told we should call them next time instead of the number thats on google. It's a bit upsetting that this was our experience with 2 nights in the most expensive rooms offered here. There could have been many solutions offered to any of our issues and though we remained calm and dealt with the issues it was an extremely underwhelming stay for a place that many of our friends and family were excited for us to stay when...
Read moreI really liked this hotel but I unfortunately had to mark it down by (1) star for a couple simple/stupid reasons. Get to that a little later. As I rate the staff, especially at the restaurant and bar/lounge are all great people. Many of them I visited with are also university students and very outgoing. When you arrive your first challenge will be pulling open the main entrance doors. They are not on automated openers and "breaking" the air lock takes a very heavy and forceful pull. I watched a couple people actually give up and move aside for others to open. Then when you gain access you will be treated by the dining reception podium/desk which for me and my colleagues found confusing. Okay. The issues. First, and something everyone in my profession group of mostly architects complained to one another that there is almost NO PLACE to put clothing away in your room. It's almost insane. I have folded clothes laying about the room as there are no real dresser drawers. Bad design concept for sure. Also, and this was just an error but I requested housekeeping each of my days and they didn't show up the first full day and I confirmed with the delightful front desk person that I had requested it and they had it documented. The lack of storage is, in my opinion a larger more constant issue. The food in the restaurant is really good and portion sizes are very reasonable. The make really good smoked old fashions in the bar but I need to caution you that there "typical" poor is a premixed blend, that for me was WAY too sweet. So after the first of 3 I asked that they self construct my next few drinks and they were very good. I would definitely come back as the place has personality and is located in a central downtown spot but the storage thing will continue to...
