Jacob of Dairy Queen at Middlebelt Rd & 9 Miles Rd for outstanding service. Going above and beyond.
I came to the DQ 9:45pm (Saturday July 25th, 2020) ordeered an ice cream sandwich and went to the CVS Pharmacy next door to purchase a pair of reading glasses. What happened next was simply remarkable.
I was in the back of the CVS trying on Reading glasses for the correct fit and function, after about 15 minutes; I gathered the favored pair of glasses, a tube of toothpaste and a "Q" 4 pack of ginger beer then made my way to the checkout counter, {being very careful to observe the covid 19 Social Distance markers on the floor).
The next couple of second played out like a scene from the Twilight Zone. I waited for about 90 seconds that felt like 90 minutes and then I observed, or it dawned on me, there was no one to be seen in the store and the door chime keep beeping to the point of annoyance. I glance at my phone and say the time was 10:05 pm and i wondered to myself was I locked in the store. I walked over to the exit doors tried them and saw they were locked.
In a state of panic unlock the double door and let myself out of the store only to be greeted with a 5 alarm siren bellowing, the alarm system blasting and the staff of adjoining store, the DQ closing their doors. They stared in astonishment as they looked at me breaking out of the store. In that moment I knew the optics is not flattering I told myself. I walked over to the DQ staff and explain what happened.
In all this confusion and chaos the clear calm voice of Jacob suggested that he (a white teenager will wait with me until the police come to explain that I didn't break in and out of the store). As we waited the young lady working at the Pizza store also volunteered to call a friend that works at the CVS to come back to the store to close the doors and turn of the alarm.
In short order the Farmington Police arrived in 3 white SUVs,, they were polite, firm and fair in the questioning and ask me to identify myself while they ran a background check, after the check they told me as was free to leave and go home they would wait for someone to arrive to close the CVS Store. I would have done this moment a great disservice if I did not say what happened as the police got to the scene.
Jacob volunteered to speak with the officers on my behalf, because he was acutely cognizant of the perception I had to over come. He said he wanted to tell the officers he saw me left the store without taking anything with me. I know we are in a moment of great "social unrest" but for me it is moments like these, and young people like Jacob that will make tomorrow better than the injustices of today. The future is promising when complete strangers will go above and beyond to ensure their fellow man no matter the color of his skin or social status is fairly treated.
Jacob did this while other young men laughed at me and left unconcerned, apathetic and not taking the time to care. I salute Jacob a great citizen and an asset to...
Read moreMy mom, sister and myself walk in with our 4 kids. We did two separate orders that was taken wrong both times. No big deal right, right. I place two tables together so our 4 kids could have a place to sit together instead of the high tops seating that was there. After we were done eating. We cleaned up, making sure not even a piece of napkin was left behind. As we were about to get into our cars. The lady that works there, I didn’t catch her name so best way I could describe her was that she had a earring on the bottom of her bottom lip. She comes out of Dairy Queen and says “excuse me, you guys need to put the tables back together”!!!! She literally asked a customer to do her work!!! She walked from behind the counter, past the tables that were put together, just to come outside and ask a customer to place the tables back together!!!! We are the paying customers!!! Customers is what keeps a business in business!!!!! Will never step foot in that location again!! Very rude and very ...
Read moreI walked in and there was a young lady at the counter. She was telling what appeared to be her friend that she better leave a tip because it will go on her paycheck. I ordered a large cup of ice cream with sprinkles. The manager brings a chocolate cone with sprinkles. I told him it was supposed to be in a cup and vanilla. He goes back to remake it. And I heard the young girl say I didn’t say that and I asked for chocolate. Honestly, I flavor was never specified, nor was it verified by the employee. Most DQs just give me vanilla, I place my order the same each time. If there was a doubt, it should have been clarified. The manager never addressed her about her poor customer service. I instructed him, he should let her know to be professional in front of customers and wait for them to walk out the door. I left her a tip even though her customer service is poor and she didn’t make the order. However, I will...
