My husband and I use to get food at Honolulu pretty frequently because he liked the Ramen and the Poke Bowls, which got me into Poke Bowls. Our last visit though was likely our last as we were super disappointed by the changes made to the Poke Bowls. At first when I saw they added a Small size I was happy, as I had been wanting them to add smaller size bowls, however they got rid of all the good sauces, the scallops and some other items. They also made it so you just fill out the sheet and wait for them to bring it to you. No more Subway style knowing your getting it how you want it. With most of the sauces gone/changed, it was a pretty bland Poke Bowl. Mine was decent, but my husband didn't care for his at all. It's no longer worth the price. Poke Bowls are pricey, but we didn't mind spending a little extra on food when we could because it was fantastic quality, now it's genuinely a waste of money. We were wondering if it may have been new ownership that made these changes and from a previous review and how the Facebook page has been scrubbed, looks like that's unfortunately the case. Also, relating to the Facebook page, either hire a social media manager or take some classes because oh my gosh it's bad now. It looks like a newly made personal account, not a business page. My husband and I were looking for the original Poke Bowl menu to see what exactly the sauces were so we can just make our own and that's when I noticed the page had been scrubbed. Now it's just a couple random photos and a drawing by the new owner(?)'s child... Like why?? Anyway, thankfully someone posted the old menu here on Google. Sad to see a nice place that had a pretty good thing going for it go downhill as I'm seeing other recent reviews having issues since the new ownership too.
Update to the recent reply- I wrote nothing about a price change and if you did lower the price, that's great! When we went it was still the same prices, just with the addition of a Small size which was a decent price. There was a fair amount of toppings no longer there when we went, so also great if you did add more since then. Also I never brought up avocado's... so don't know why that was brought up though? It's awesome you do take constructive criticism to improve because from some other recent comments, it does look like work is needed. I would like to give Honolulu business again because I genuinely loved the Poke Bowls, so do hope to give it a try again if improvements like you wrote have...
Read moreThe food was great! I'm glad they have a ramen/poke sushi bowl place now. I would have given this location 5 stars, but when we were visiting this location it was an HR prior to closing. The cashier's seemed annoyed that we choose to come during this time to order. We did place an order over $100.00 and decided to eat in. At this time they were cleaning the restrooms. I thought ok no problem I'll wait to wash my hands and relieve myself when it's open again. We waited for our food and when it came out I wanted to go wash my hands as well I wanted my children to wash their hands but the restrooms were still closed down. So when getting my order I asked them when the restrooms would be open. The cashier's stated it was closed for the remainder of the night because they already cleaned it. Me as a customer told them I would like to relieve myself and wash my hands prior to eating. It's not like I could go anywhere else and I'm dining in. They stated the chemicals they use needs to sit for 30mins before being wiped down. Holdong my urine in and not being able to wash my hands before eating was a no go for me after spending $$ at your establishment. This is exactly why you should be doing cleaning procedures after you close. If you close at 8pm then do so. Customer care should be taken in mind when running a business. Not because your cashier's wanna leave early or get out exactly at closing time. As a 1st time customer I was very impressed with the food. But with the service and guest interaction was a no go for me. Hopefully this changes. I will be returning but just not an HR...
Read moreI grew up on Oahu and when I moved to the mainland, I could not find a place that had really good Ramen. I am very picky, cause the best ones are in Hawaii. For years living in Durango, CO, I tried several and none of them came close to what I'm used to. Last week my sister in-law told me about this new Ramen place called "Honolulu Tea Tok." I said that I'll be the judge of that.
We got there for dinner last week Friday. I was going to order a poke bowl, then I saw they had chicken katsu (one of my favorite), so I went with that. My sister in-law had the tonkatsu Ramen spicy miso with shrimp and pork belly.
When we got our order, I was very impressed with everything. I had to try my sister in-law's Ramen and it was bomb!!! The katsu was Ono, never had it with a curry sauce, I loved it!! The flavors is what I missed so much, your not just eating Ramen with broth. The flavors were spot on. The atmosphere and setting made me feel the Aloha spirit and love, in the food and also being greeted by such wonderful staff that had great aloha service that many places lack.
I can't wait to go back and order my poke bowl and a boba tea đ„°
