Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Fate

I usually enjoy everything from Sonic (chili dogs & hot fudge milkshakes are my GO TO). Their breakfast burritos are really good. I had 2 of the sausage breakfast burritos & the cinnamon bites this time (THEY WERE TO DIE FOR -the icing packet was amazing and dipping the cinna-bite pieces in it probably the best thing on the menu)!!

Only reason I gave 2 stars was bc the prior time I had the Queso Burger & it was disgusting... I took 2 bites and threw it away. And seeing that money is REALLY TIGHT right now (for almost everyone due to layoffs/furloughs/reduced hours & taking jobs you are WAY over qualified for... my income was cut in thirds! So, needless to say I don't get drive-thru, take out or go out(ever) but once a week or 10+/- days.

So, when I told them what had happened and I didn't get to eat my meal ($4-$5 smallish burger) I just asked them to be honest with a customer about the food... I was in the restaurant business for 20 yrs, & 8+ of those years I was a manager. So, I don't expect them to tell me it's gross, but maybe say... "some ppl like it... soine ppl hate it" bc then I would be consuming @ my own risk - and 100% wouldn't have gotten it & wasted my 1 meal (& $$) a week on it and gotten 1 of the dozens of menu items that are GREAT!!

I didn't want anything for free (again - yrs as a restaurant manager), but SOMETHING should've been done to rectify the situation!

I ordered a medium Oreo and Reese’s shake from the menu. The menu says $4.89 and lists 4-5 options with calorie counts per each choice. Guy rings me up and charges me $0.69 to add the Reese’s. He also tried adding another $0.69 for peanut butter for some reason. After I paid (not knowing I was getting charged extra) I saw the receipt and asked why I got charged extra he told me that’s what they do. I pointed out that the menu doesn’t say that. It says $4.89. I asked to cancel and he says, “it already went through.” I chuckled and told him to void it. He stared at me for a second and then called over his manager Francisco. Francisco voided my charge and asked what I wanted but I told him how it was shady that they’re charging a different price than the menu says. Guy tells me “I just work here.” No ownership of the crew. I told him he has a voice and needs to use it. I’m about to take my sign here, but as someone who worked in restaurants for 7 years as a server and manager for one of the biggest corporate sit-down restaurant companies in the world, you don’t post one price and then start charging extra. There are buttons in the POS (point-of-sale) system for every item on the menu. This is an example of poor training and a lack of company auditing. I can also prove that the menu price is accurate as the Sonic app shows the same price as the menu… and there’s a button for it.

This place is TOTALLY AWESOME!! stopped there earlier today and got a burger and it was slightly not what I ordered. If it wasn't for the mayo I would have just picked the tomatoes and lettuce off and ate it but I totally don't do mayo! Went back in and told them the mistake and she was very cool about it ( didn't get her name but I'm sure it was a manager)!! I travel a lot and since this so called covid19 has started I have had multiple times my order was wrong and when I went back to get what I've ordered they would pretty much tell me take it or leave it because they won't do a refund or remake it. I've even had employee's throw the order at me and cuss me out and want to have me fight them because they made the order just as I wanted which was not true! Just would like to congratulate the lady I spoke to about this little problem for being so professional and kind! She even gave me this free token/chip for a free medium drink which she didn't have to do so and I even told her she didn't have to do so and that accidents happen but she refused to take it back.
