Let me just start off by saying I’ve a healthy respect for the service industry. That being said, let’s start this review.
Between the time we arrived, name placed on waitlist (please don’t forget that this is Father’s Day), got seated, order placed, received meal it took around 1.5 hours. This isn’t a bad thing. Seeing that this isn’t a typical day. Btw, buckle up this review is going to be lengthy 🫣.
We ordered: DRINKS: Coffee, water, Arnold Palmer & strawberry lemonade APPETIZER: crab cake & spicy bbq cauliflower wings (loved these) ENTRÉE: chicken tenders, fries & peach fresh toast (hubby liked these-recommended by server Rome); steak skillet w/potatoes, fried eggs & a side of avocado; extra biscuits!
PROS: The atmosphere was bustling, the musical selection was 90’s based not offensive or loud- could still have a conversation at a low tone. Restaurant was clean despite the bustling Tables were cleaned almost immediately as patrons left Food was scrumptious minor tweaks but please don’t go asking for salt & pepper until you’ve tasted the meal (give the chefs’ a chance to wow your palate)
CONS Wait time but I must be fair it was Father’s Day so… lack of adequate seating (thus waitlist) The kitchen staff which could be viewed were moving a little lack luster but then again it was Father’s Day and they had been at it all morning and we got there by the afternoon My appetizer came out 1 minute before my entrée our check had a 20% gratuity (without prior knowledge) added and we were a party of 2.
Ok so you might be saying that I am nitpicking but again give me chance to explain then you can comment, cool?
I waited for 45 minutes for my appetizer and my server was visibly upset with the kitchen staff seeing he had put in my order 45 mins prior, only to get a confused look from the kitchen staff maybe implying that they had forgotten to put it in. My hubby’s tasty crab cake arrived and we had to share as I still had to wait 30 minutes after His arrived. Yes, yes, yes it’s Father’s Day but I expected both appetizers to arrive to our table-TOGETHER! Our server Rome was apologetic and you could see he was trying his best to serve us, other tables, running back to the wait area to look for my tasty spicy cauliflower wings. We helped ease his anxiety (we really hope 😣) by informing him that we are not annoyed/upset at him. The food finally arrived steaming, smelling awesome and we dove in. Our server had mentioned syrup for the French toast but had forgotten as he was really busy going from bar, washing glasses, to tables, etc. We didn’t mention it to him because he looked like he had a lot on his plate 😮💨.
CHECK TIME! We didn’t have an issue with the amount but what blew our minds was the 20% gratuity added without our knowledge. I had to immediately call over the manager who was so pleasant that I really couldn’t stay mad 😁😆. She explained that even though we were a party of 2 our bill was over $75, so that’s the reason for the gratuity. I was visibly annoyed so she went on to explain that we can still tip our waiter/server. I needed more info. So I inquired only to be told that the tips were split among the kitchen staff, hosts, bussers & other servers-they all shared the tips. I was still upset but now I realized why they mentioned on the website that servers are paid minimum wage and it’s recommended to tip your server. I’m still a little hot about the 20% ADDED without my knowledge but it’s going towards everyone so hopefully the restaurant is fair with them and split it evenly amongst the staff. I must say this, I completely forgot that the chefs, hosts & servers are a part of the cog that keeps the ship running smoothly. So yes, they need to be appreciated also.
With that being said, we enjoyed the meal. I was told repeatedly by a few friends to ask for Imani but since she was serving outside/patio we had a substitute -Rome who did exceptional in his service.
If you’ve read to the end, thank you. I didn’t give all 5 stars but I’ll update on my next review! Yes, it’s...
Read moreWe when visited this establishment, was little crowded, we had a great waitress, she order us vegetable omelette, what potatoes , Fish& grits, I’m dissatisfied with the kitchen because when they prepared omelette, no tomatoes , it was supposed to crab meat shrimp, but barely had any. It was all at the top, not in the middle of the omelette. Most people make a omelette, so we asked if we could talk to the manager she came over with this look on her face and, and I explain omelette didn’t have any crab meat or shrimp I was looking for omelette in the middle, mine was just on the top of my omelette, the omelette was just egg, but when the manger came over show her the omelette I left her omelette up show her the inside. She thought it was me. It was just on top. She said I’m gonna fix it. I said I don’t want mine fixed because I can’t eat it. So she went and got some crab meat and brought it over to the table for me and the other young lady because she had an omelette too and we asked her is that all the crab meat is basically all you gonna get, but she didn’t see it, but I had already said I couldn’t eat my omelette at that time, she stated she could not take the omelette I said and I can’t eat it so she took it over to the owner establishment , She was a blonde woman sitting at the bar and I asked the young lady to ask if I could speak with her, but she never came over to speak with us, but she went to speak to this cop at this table. I don’t understand. I feel like if you ask to speak to the owner and she’s there as we patronize your establishment you should’ve came over and spoke to us because your manager was not doing a good job and it acted like she had an attitude, I believe in patronizing people, living in Fayette county for over 20 something years it was delight to see a breakfast with somebody that looks just like me on it and be successful now I’m thinking differently because you don’t see that many others people in that establishment so we actually patronize her more than they do but she couldn’t come over and even hear but we had to say we could pay for our meal that wasn’t a problem, but it was amazing and we made sure that she was well compensated because it wasn’t her. She wasn’t cooking the food but the question is that , will I patronize this business again no I will not give you two chances to mess up but the third no I pray her business be successful. I’m just one person with this complaint, but this happened to me. My girlfriend enjoy coming down there, but I’m like Shark Tank I’m out. my you this happened to me it may not happen to you so don’t base my experience offer. What happened to me? I’m just sharing the manager your customer service skills need to change and your face expressions need to change and I pray y’all do the and your business, but I was a very...
