After seeing several posts about the new Osaka House Asian Buffet in Fayetteville, AR, I had to give it a try. Even though it’s only been open four days, the place already had a solid crowd when I walked in.
You pay up front before seating yourself, which is fine, but I’m not a fan of being asked for a tip before any service is provided—especially at a buffet where you’re doing most of the work yourself. That aside, once I settled in and looked around, I was impressed with the spread.
The sushi looked fresh, and the hot bar had a strong lineup of Chinese dishes. I sampled the General Tso’s Chicken, Chicken Teriyaki, Wonton Soup, Chicken with Broccoli, and some excellent mushrooms—all of which leaned more toward “premium” than your average buffet. There were also several soups available and even a freezer stocked with Blue Bunny ice cream, which was a nice touch.
What stood out most was how well the staff kept everything stocked, rotated, and clean. Food was always fresh, warm, and presented well. I even had a chance to chat briefly with John, the manager, and let him know how impressed I was with the way the team was handling things.
Prices are a bit higher than your typical buffet, but the quality more than justifies it. Overall, a great new spot in Fayetteville that I’ll definitely be returning to soon.
**Update to my review, I did get food poisoning after eating here and was quite sick later that night.

Read moreFor what it's worth, this buffet is only on day 4, as of this review. Initially upon entering this establishment, you are greeted with kindness by the staff. The price for this buffet is higher than most. For $27.99 per adult, I had my doubts as to whether they could justify the cost. What you have is a double sided steam table with a selection of baked fish, snow crab, Chinese meat dishes and one chicken. There are no labels above to inform patrons as to what the dishes are. Of course everyone knows broccoli beef, but the other ones have a distinct flavor profile. Give it a name. Then you have your udon noodles, rice noodles and fried rice. A style of shrimp is available, what I believe to be salt and pepper shrimp. A small section for fresh salad and last but not least, the fresh shrimp, green lip mussles and oyster in a half shell, along with cold cooked shrimp. This buffet needs some fine tuning. The sushi bar is nice and clean. They offer raw sushi and cooked. The variety of cooked was nice, great flavor and plentiful. I'm not a fan of pink ginger. The wasabi wasn't as potent as I'm accustomed to. I have faith in this operation, with customer feedback and honest opinions, it has potential. The crab is sweet, the green lip mussles are to die for, according to my husband, so are the oysters in a half shell....
Read moreOsuka House should be the name because you gotta be a suka to eat there. My wife got an ad on her Facebook and it looked amazing. $60 for two people was kind of pricey for a buffet but again, it looked amazing. The selling point for me was the fresh oysters and the crab legs, both of which were a complete disappointment. As soon as you walk in, you get hit with this pungent fishy smell. Then you get asked to pay before even seeing the buffet. I did like the fact that the drinks were self serve. I was scared to try the oysters because they looked like they’ve been sitting out all day, as did the sushi. After browsing the traditional buffet, I got what I would get at any other buffet, just not the good, hot and fresh version because it was cold. The beef was really chewy and the broccoli was hard. The black peppered chicken was kind of sweet. That was wired. After waiting for about thirty minutes, they finally brought out crab legs and they were gone really quick. I happened to get a small cluster. Another disappointment. They couldn’t even get the crab legs right! It was so overcooked you had to dig it out with your fingers. I walked in with an empty stomach and walked out with an empty and nauseous stomach and $60 lighter. Needless to say, I’ll not be going back and I would recommend you spend your money on a...
