I haven't had much Korean food before, let alone "authentic" stuff, but I've been hearing this is authentic as it gets for Korean BBQ in the entire area as far as I'm aware. Went there early afternoon today with my dad, and man oh man was the food amazing, I don't even know where to start. All the little side dishes you get are perfect. And you know it's a good spot when it's a hole in the wall kind of place, not to mention you know it's good and authentic when literally everyone there was native Korean, be it customer and staff, the downside of this being that the staff spoke very little English but they knew enough to communicate for orders, paying etc. so you shouldn't have to worry about that. The beef short ribs were the star of the show in my opinion, wish we got more they were so delicious, had a nice little char flavor to them and were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and fairly generous portions of meat on them as well. The only thing I didn't care for was the Korean Sausage appetizer, it had a nice flavor but the texture didn't sit right with me. Overall, amazing and extremely authentic Korean BBQ, this is a MUST GO. Last thing I should mention, the sign above the store says something like "Black Box" with some Korean letters next to it, that's the...
Read moreAs an avid lover and long time guest of Korean restaurants, I have learned the easiest way to tell if the Korean restaurant is good by how many Koreans are eating there. Chang Ko is packed full of Koreans (I only saw two other non-Koreans while there) and felt like I was transported to Korea while there. Food was magnificent and the hole in the wall atmosphere made it even better. K-pop was playing on a TV, wall furnishings were bare and only in Korean, and the waiters greeted each guest as if long time friends. It felt like I was going over to an aunt's house for dinner. People retrieved beer from the fridge themselves and the food portions were generous. If I lived in the area, I'd come here every week. Visit if you're able to and enjoy the culture...
Read moreI was in Federal Way and in the mood for some bulgogi pork and seafood pancake. Google reviews brought me to this small local restaurant. The sign at the door said “Blackbox” instead of Chang Ko and I’m glad that I didn’t get confused. Chang Ko turned out to have the best Korean food I like. Very authentic, the lettuce, bean curd paste, raw garlic slices and the bell at every table, echoed what other reviewers are saying about this restaurant. All the side dishes are delicious and fresh. I know I will be bringing my...
