March 4th Visit – Found the Best Sundae of My Life!
I hadn’t had breakfast yet, and my stomach was growling. It was cold and rainy, so I thought, Should I go get a warm bowl of soup? And wow—what an experience!
This was my first time trying dwaeji-gukbap (pork soup), and the staff was incredibly kind. They even made a special seasoning mix for me and explained how to properly enjoy the dish. The moment I took my first sip of the rich, steaming broth, the cold outside seemed to disappear. The deep, flavorful taste was simply unforgettable.
I followed their advice—dipping the tender pork into the seasoning, mixing the rice into the soup—and every bite was pure bliss. My husband and I couldn’t stop nodding at each other, as if to say, Yes, this is it!
The kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) was refreshingly crisp, the geotjeori (fresh kimchi) was delicious, but the real star was the sundae (Korean blood sausage). My husband, a true sundae lover, declared it the best he’s ever had, and I couldn’t agree more. Every bite was packed with flavor, making us both speechless with delight.
We almost ordered another plate of assorted sundae to take home, but we knew nothing could beat the taste of freshly made sundae. So instead, we’ve decided—this place is now our go-to spot, and we’ll be back every...
Read moreThis was my second time eating at Moobongri and it did not disappoint! Both times I've had the spicy neck bone soup (written as 뼈다귀 해장국) and it always hits the spot! The meat is fall off the bone tender, broth is flavorful, and there's plenty of cabbage and perilla leave and a random piece of potato or two. A large portion, so it's enough to bring home for seconds if you're not a big eater.
I appreciate that they provide a small bucket for the bones and I especially love that they serve hot tea in stainless steel cups and the neck bone soup in a large stainless steel bowl. Most places will serve you hot drinks and soups in plastics, without thinking twice about all the microplastics leaching due to hot liquids.
I also tried the soondae bokkeum today, which is Korean blood sausage stir fried with cabbage, perilla leaves, glass noodles, and liver in a spicy sauce. It was expensive but a huge portion, think buca di beppo, so overall decent value. It was rather spicy, which I enjoyed. The flavor of the sauce was a good combination of savory, spicy, and a little sweet. Compared to other places in WA that I've had this dish, I would give it...
Read moreI do not like to write negative reviews but after my experience on Memorial Day I am compelled to give Moobongri Soondae 2-stars.
Our party of 3 adults, 1-toddler and a 9-mo baby was seated at Moonbongri at 5:30 pm. Only one waitress on site and at most only 3 occupied tables by customers. It took 30 mintues for the waitress to bring us our banchan comprising of just two pickled vegetables (kimchi napa and daikon). After 45 minutes of having no utensils we went to their bar counter to get our own napkins, chopsticks and spoons.
It took over one hour to get our food; a beef hotpot and a cold noodle. They also mistakenly brought us a dish we did not order which added to our long wait for food.
To their credit the dishes were good but the service is absolutely horrendous. I cannot recommend this place unless you have 2-3 hours to spend on a meal. We also never had a refill of water.
Another staff member eventually showed up and tried making things right for us but after spending almost 90 minutes waiting for two dishes were knew not to go to...
