Leroy's Lounge — Restaurant in Fenton

Ended up hitting Fenton, MI to drop off family to attend a baby shower and stumbled across this absolute gem of an establishment. I wanted a place that wasn't just a carbon-copy chain bar or restaurant in the area, and the vibe was unique — blind-pig style bar/fry kitchen in the basement of another restaurant. Ordered a double cheeseburger, pickles chips and a bourbon sour.

I thought I'd catch the bartender flat-footed by ordering a bourbon sour to match the summer heat, but he nailed it — amazing bourbon sour, generous pour. Effective and delightful.

The burger was everything you could have hoped for in a burger. A juicy, greasy, double-patty burger in the style of a McDonalds deluxe — mustard, ketchup, onion, pickles and govt cheese slathered on those patties, all on a brioche bun. Delicious. Simple. Effective.

No pickles chips ever arrived, but I imagine they are, similarly, amazing lol.

Leroy's is the only place I want to be downtown Fenton. Yacht Rock, moderately priced drinks with decent pours, lack of an Instagram crowd and phenomenal bar food (except those little ass wings).

I'm a dive bar guy. While I understand the appeal of the fifteen minutes of fame all of the other places are scrambling and competing for I am cool to let them have it and grab a drink with my fellow grown ass townies at a quiet downtown spot and Leroy's nails it. Service is great. Food is great. Ambiance...chef's kiss and they are not trying to be the place that every college kid comes to spend their parent's trust fund money. Downtown needed Leroy's. This is a great addition to Fenton! It feels like a speakeasy with its cozy dark atmosphere and being in the basement of another restaurant. This kind of helps fill the void as left behind by the previous speakeasy. But this bar doesn't have expensive cocktails and charcuterie! Instead, it has affordable and delicious hot dogs and burgers and cheap draft beer. There's a couple of the other items on the tight menu, there's a pool table, there is a long bar, there's a great atmosphere. It's wonderful! A true gem in town.
