Many moons ago, there was a small shack on Leroy St named "Dairyland" where people could walk to (no parking at all) and get a soft serve cone, or a hand dip with very little selection. When I say a shack, it was LITERALLY a shack with a counter. It was the only Ice Cream place in Fenton for many years. The service started going downhill, and then one summer the sign changed to "Uncle Ray's Dairyland". The changes that I witnessed in that shack were amazing. Uncle Ray was so friendly, and he loved to chat with everyone! Walking down to Uncle Ray's was a staple of my youth, and I have many memories of seeing friends there!
I believe it was around the early 90s when he had a building constructed at the north end of town that was much larger. Uncle Ray's was no longer a shack! Halo Burger was in the back of the building, but Uncle Ray's was the Spotlight. It was around that time the Fenton's Population exploded, and with more residents came more business for Uncle Ray's. It is the kind of place that, once you have it, you compare everywhere else you go to it. It really sets the bar for a well-run successful business. It did not get that way by mistreating customers, but by treating the customers like gold, and having such an amazing product that people keep coming back for more!
It is good to see that after Uncle Ray died, his legacy lives on. Although there have been personnel issues in the past, Dave really seems to have grasped an understanding for how to keep Ray's Legacy going well into the future.
If you haven't already tried it, you are missing out on a delicious part of...
Read moreI visited Uncle Ray’s Dairyland for the first time this past Saturday, I’m not a local......I stopped in to get some ice cream for my daughter who was working at a camp nearby...... She texted me an address to “Uncle Ray’s Dairyland” in Fenton, I followed GPS thinking it was a tiny shop To my surprise this tiny place was a true Dairyland with a heated canopy, inside seating bar stool style where they make their own ice cream!!! They even have a mini golf center for a complete family fun filled evening! The menu was tremendously Delightful, certainly something for Everyone, and to top all that off you have a whole team of smiling faces greeting you, from the service associate to the manager to the owner Dave, which came out to personally greet me and bring out my order! As I drove away I was amazed at this place, the people, the kindness.......when I returned with cream in hand (of course packed in a freezer case) my daughter and her friends feasted on coffee crunch homemade ice cream with freshly baked waffle cones, they said it was divine! As a business owner myself I was beyond impressed with this business! With this kind of service and quality, their customers are loyal and Forever! The answer is YES we will DEF be back! Thank you again Dave and the...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but our experience last night at Uncle Ray’s Dairyland was too good not to share. My girlfriend and I decided to visit this fantastic ice cream spot, and it exceeded our expectations. When I called at 9:40pm to check if they were still open, I was met with an enthusiastic ‘yes!’ from Dave, who assured us it was perfectly fine to arrive a bit after 10. True to his word, he warmly greeted us at the window.
Dave’s infectious positivity shone through as he patiently provided recommendations. My girlfriend’s chocolate fudge brownie milkshake was loaded with delicious brownie chunks, and my three-scoop ice cream waffle cone (cherry, pistachio, and cappuccino) was outstanding. The ice cream was top-notch, with whole pistachios and sizable cherry chunks adding to the experience. Even the waffle cone was a treat in itself.
What prompted me to write this review was Dave’s graciousness, patience, and unwavering positivity. In a time when many businesses are grappling with staffing shortages and rising costs, encountering such exceptional service was a breath of fresh air. This place is a gem and Dave is a true asset.
Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit; it’s absolutely worth it! We’re already looking forward...
