PICK-QUICK Drive In – First Visit Review
Stopped in today for lunch for the first time after hearing great things about PICK-QUICK Drive In and I’m happy to say it lived up to the hype. We wanted to try a few different items to get a good feel for the menu. Here's how everything stacked up:
Customer Service: Top-notch. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, walking me through the menu and explaining what comes on each burger. Great first impression.
Double Cheeseburger: A highlight of the meal. It comes with pickle, tomato, special sauce, and onion (your choice of grilled or raw). I opted out of the pickles and tomatoes (don't like them), and it was fantastic. The two thin patties were packed with beefy flavor, the bun was soft yet had a nice chew, and the special sauce added a sweet, tangy punch that tied everything together. The raw onions were sliced just right, not overpowering at all. Highly recommend.
Chili Burger: Same quality patties and bun, but topped with a generous helping of chili. I mean generous! This is definitely a fork-and-knife burger once you get it home. The chili had a great flavor and really complemented the burger. I'd order this again in a heartbeat.
Chili Cheese Fritos: Exactly what it sounds like, classic chili cheese Fritos. Not particularly memorable for me, but my wife absolutely loved them. That’s a win in my book, and she'd definitely get them again.
Fries: These were just okay for me. They had a nice potato flavor but lacked seasoning and salt. Thin and semi-firm, they might be a hit with others, but I personally wouldn’t go out of my way for them.
Strawberry Malt: A showstopper. Creamy, rich ice cream blended with real strawberry chunks and a bold malt flavor. I regretted not getting a larger size, it was that good. Highly recommend.
Overall: A great first experience. Quality food, amazing customer service, and a couple of standout items that will have me coming back next time I’m in the area....
Read moreI have been going to Pick Quick Drive-In for over 40 years. There are now new owners and they are going to ruin this for their loyal customers. First the good. They are now open all year around without the closure from Nov.1 to Feb 1. They now take card payments instead of just cash. Done with the good and from here it goes downhill.
SIN # 1. They changed the fries. The fries used to be 5-6 inches long, 1/4 inch thick, and fried a darker color. They were greasy and soft and would fold over for a pleasant bite. No more. They are the standard whitish fries you get at any burger place. 1/2 the length, no color, over cooked, no flavor and no grease. They have changed the staple of their business.
SIN #2. They no longer take phone orders. This place is small with limited grill capacity. So if you get there to order during their lunch time or dinner time, you could be waiting 30-45 minutes for a burger. The line is always long during these times. So it was always smart to call your order in like I have done for 40 years and your order would be ready when you got there. NO MORE. They won't take phone orders but you can order on the internet. Well when I am traveling on I-5 and get hungry I can't just pull over in traffic to open an app or get on the internet. 99.5% of the time I was a phone order and that was 3-4 times a month for over 40 years.
Well I guess they don't want my business any longer. These two changes are enough to make the drive to Dick's in Federal Way or Frisco Freeze in N. Tacoma. I have taken their number off my speed dial and just won't be back. I would normally wish the new owners good luck but in this case, I hope they...
Read moreWe usually love this place, and was really looking forward to our lunch today. However, today our experience (11am) was, unfortunately, very disappointing 😞 I brought my folks for lunch today for an early Father's Day celebration (Pick Quick has been 1 of his favorite burger joints for many years!!!), but the young person taking our order was very impatient with my 83 year old Dad placing his order; then the young man who made our hot Fudge Marshmallow sundaes hardly put any hot Fudge in them, my Dad said that they were nothing as good as he usually gets (I have to agree that mine was not as good as times before), we ate about 4 bites and threw them away. Such a waste of money 😕 THEN they forgot the Bacon on my Bacon double cheese Burger. One of the gals kindly offered to remake my burger, but that wasn't necessary, as it just needed the bacon. Sadly, this visit wasn't just 1 thing gone "bad", it was a number of things. Was bummed that I tipped, especially before seeing how our order was going to turn out. I guess I should have waited to see. I also, nicely & discreetly, let the young person taking orders know that they should learn to be more patient with older people. The person did smile and nod, so I hope (she?) it was taken to heart for the future. I felt so bad for my Dad's Father's Day lunch not being what it...
