There are many reasons we love Sapporo Sushi and recommend you visit them soon. This review summary is based at our several experiences at the sushi bar, not table service.
The service has been consistently good. Even when ordering from the bar one item at a time, we were provided with Miso soup and a fresh green salad to start with that arrived quickly. This was unexpected. The salad was simple yet fresh, crisp and tasty. The sushi we ordered was extremely good... The Sushi Chef and owner who served us is very experienced and explained that they take great care in preparing what many other sushi places neglect, the rice! Sushi rice is 70% of the portion in many cases, so it has to be perfectly seasoned, cooked, and served at the right temperature. Good sushi rice takes time to perfect and when it is done right is much more expensive to make than just steamed rice. This is what also makes Sapporo Sushi incredibly delicious. The classic preparation compliments the dish perfectly. They do not use too much rice either. It is balanced just right. Each bite is so good. The portions are also larger than most other places. Some places make rolls bigger by using more rice, not Sapporo. Rolls are filled with more with a thin layer of rice outside. The nigiri portions are larger too. Yet, the bites are not oversized to the point of making it difficult to eat. They just give you more slices. You see?... It's just right.
The first time we visited, we ordered too much and the Sushi Chef asked us when we turned in our order, "are you sure you can eat all this?" He was right, so we've throttled down a bit since then. Sapporo is truly enjoyable and the sushi will not disappoint. Every time I have to travel through Fife, I have to visit here. I hope you enjoy it as...
Read moreUPDATE 4/24/19 Went to lunch here yesterday for the first time in four months and was taken aback. My beloved snomono salad and cherry blossom rolls are no more. Apparently Sapporo is under new management and they appear to be attempting to cut costs. The tuna on my cherry blossom rolls was not tuna at all but some other fish that was dyed red and marinated in something salty. I asked a sushi chef if this was indeed tuna, and he said no. It really was terrible. The snomono salad which is slices of octopus set atop cucumber salad was also terribly disappointing. The cucumber salad was old and the recipe changed with too much sugar. Even the miso soup was a disappointment, thin and flavorless. The restaurant was looking nice and they have new teapots and other accoutrement, but if they're planning to continue serving fake tuna, I won't be going back. The staff, to their credit, asked why I wasn't eating my lunch. I explained my disappointment and my dissatisfaction and they were kind enough to not charge me for the meal. Message to the new owners: you need to go back to the recipes and practices of the former owner's which made the restaurant so successful and a cherished gym in the middle of Fife!
Fast service, excellent food. Best sushi in town. And the sushi chefs like to sing while they're working. Nice family business. The snomono salad is my fav! It's the real thing, not imitation sushi like Trapper's. Very...
Read moreWas helping my guy shop for a car today and when it was all said and done, we were starving so wanted somewhere close and Sapporo sushi came up on Google. Its a cute little restaurant, lots of decor on the walls and the servers are really sweet and prompt with service. I don't really remember the name of the rolls, I remember one was a volcano roll and one had spicey crab on top which was absolutely phenomenal and another had eel. We got a tasty miso and side salad as well Hamaki as a starter which were fried egg rolls that were very crispy and tasty. Overall a very pleasant dining experience and amazing food, ill definitely be returning. Everything pictured was $71 before tip so it's also reasonably priced. If I had to nitpick one thing; the eel was pretty thick sliced which was awesome, but I'm hugely textural with foods and eel skin is not something I find very enjoyable on the palate. I removed the pieces of eel and peeled the skin off to avoid the slimy texture that accompanies eel skin. Other than that,...
