FULL DISCLOSURE - I have not ordered coffee here!! It's possible that their coffee is amazing. This review is only regarding my food experiences here. I've only been here three times, but I still really feel the need to say something. The first time I ordered food here, I got a reuben sandwich. It was just okay. It wasn't mind-blowingly good in any way, and I've had quite a few very good reuben sandwiches at joints in Gig Harbor such as the Harbor General Store and Marketplace Grill. Next time I came here, I was really in the mood for soup. I went with the beef barley because it was dairy free. I am telling you that soup was 80% broth and one, I repeat ONE, tinyyyy piece of beef. No bigger than my fingernail. I thought to myself, "Well, lesson learned. I just won't get soup there ever again." So the last time I went, I got a pastry. I had checked the online reviews once again before going and noticed a few people mentioned how good the pastries were. I got an apple tart. Again, it was just okay. The apples were seasoned and prepared well. But the crust tasted more like Crisco than anything else and was a bit chewy, not really flaky. So I thought, "Well that's a bummer. The reviews are so good, I must just be having bad luck. Guess I just won't go there anymore." I thought nothing more of it until one of my coworkers starting complaining to me about a beef barley soup they ordered with one piece of beef in it. So I guess it wasn't just me!!! Anyway, I really felt the need to review and warn anyone else thinking about getting the beef barley soup. Haha. And I thought I would comment on the mediocrity of the other items I had gotten there. Really a shame as I wanted to like the place. But the heart for making great lunch food just isn't there. Two stars because the gals who took my orders were all amiable enough. Just cannot recommend the...
Read moreCar line is slow. Walking in is the best. The parking ain’t great but the coffee sure is perfect. It takes a little time but the girls remember your drinks. It’s a home feel. Some girls are rough around the edges, some are more empathic, some business mode, some talk about their wives. It’s perfection. Inside encourages trust and you don’t see it until you do a little exploring, and you’ll find something really cool that sparks pure trust like being at your grandparents house.
The locals love it. The food is good. The coffee is OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. You girls are going to drain my money. I come here often and there was only one time there was a full parking lot cars and in the driveway and it took me 20 minutes to get my coffee and one of the girls their recognized that I was a regular and gave me a free drink card and just remind me to call ahead She makes things right and that’s why she’s one of my favorite people she was also one of the first people that I met she’s tall and she has curly hair and she’s adaptable and I think she’s wonderful, like everyone else in their own special way. I wish I could remember any of their names but they don’t really introduce themselves often but it’s such a home town small town energy and I am absolutely addicted to them. Thank you for the extra sweet and extra hot vanilla Americano with cream you always make my day and start my...
Read moreThis once was my favorite local coffee spot. The staff were always friendly and joking with myself and my kids, the coffee was always good, and the food was pretty good for such a small place.
I used to come here weekly. This morning I walked in and the staff were all different. It has been a while since I’ve been here. One of the ladies behind the counter looked at me, made some kind of strange face and started whispering something to another staff member. It didn’t look kind whatever it was.
I don’t know what happened, but her communication totally changed when I came up to the register. I don’t know who these people are, I’ve never had any experiences with them before, and I’ve never, ever disrespected the people that take care of me.
So I placed my usual coffee order… She basically laughed at my coffee order telling me to repeat it multiple times smirking at her coworker like there was some understanding (?). It was at this point her coworker did the same. I told them to forget about it and just left. I genuinely don’t understand what happened to this place, it used to be so friendly.
I miss the vibe it used to have. What a shame. And the worst of it - why would you treat a perfect stranger that way? Kindness cost...
