I am disappointed to say the least. I found the Tiger Garlic and Pepper (Pad Kratiem) to be uninteresting, non-flavorful, and certainly not what I would expect from a Thai restaurant. Thai cuisine is known for primarily valuing 2 things: intense/interesting flavor and color presentation. This preparation valued neither of these things. It reminded me of something one would get at Panda Express. Non-flavorful slices of beef soaking in water. Yup, water. Oh, there were some vegetables in there. Here's the grossest part: iceberg lettuce. Have you ever seen chopped iceberg lettuce floating in a "broth"? Yup, it's as gross as it sounds. I honestly don't know what they were thinking sending this out. I paid $12 for this and in retrospect I wouldn't have ordered it if they paid me to.
And regarding Fish Sauce...if they are actually using Fish Sauce to cook with (which I could not perceive in my dish), then they are buying the lowest quality, 4th or 5th pass version on the market. They did send a little baby container of some liquid along with my meal. If it was Fish sauce...yikes.
The most disappointing aspect of my meal was actually what I would think would be the easiest to get right...the heat (spice) level. I set out today with the goal of torturing myself with some super spicy food, and naturally Thai comes to mind. I am accustomed to Thai restaurants offering mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and Thai hot. I have a high tolerance for heat. Usually, 'extra hot' is pretty intense at Thai restaurants. Today I asked for "Thai hot".
I'm not exaggerating when I say that the spice level my food was mild to (maybe) medium. I thought "they must be joking". I called to ask, and they said that's "how hot Thai hot is here". What? Then why don't they just offer mild, medium, and hot? Why even claim to offer Thai hot. YOUR FOOD IS NOT SPICY.
I'm willing to assume that I just happened to order the worst dish on the menu. Some of the pictures on the Google Business listing look amazing, so I'm honestly not sure what their deal is.
Here's what I would recommend if you're going to try this place: Try your dish and if it's not what you were expecting, receive a refund. And if you're looking for a certain spice level, when you're food arrives (especially if it's take-out) taste it. If it's not the spice level you asked for then ask for a refund. Refunds...
Read moreFood is decent which is why I’ve visited and ordered take out. In my experience I have found the two thai waitresses working there to be overbearing and disrespectful. The first time we ate here the waitresses sat together in the back looking and laughing as my girlfriend and I ate. They stared and giggled talking in thai for about 30 minutes cleaning silverware and cracking jokes as they stared at our table. I took it as a one-off because it was a new place for us. I recently made a phone takeout order and on pick-up I noticed the price looked a bit inflated but there was no receipt provided with a brakedown. We were charged 48 on what should’ve been a 42 dollar order tax included. (Shrimp pad-thai, pineapple fried rice & crab rangoon) and coincidently the over charge equated to what would have been a 15%+ tip on the take out order for which i received no waiter service for other than being handed a plastic bag. I recently returned and confirmed based on menu prices that i was indeed charged a 16% added charge on my take out. Yesterday, my girlfriend and I went for my birthday celebration. The time was 8 o clock and they were annoyed that my girlfriend was asking for extra time to look at the menu and in retaliation they brought out the appetizers and entree I choose at the same time. My Entree was delivered so fast it felt like it was ready before I arrived. I very much dislike when entrees and appetizer arrived at the same time. It shows how low class the service is. The waitress seemed overbearing and condescending. My girlfriend asked for the bill and a box for her food. The waitress came with the bill and tried handing it to me when typically it’s placed on the table. Cant my girlfriend treat me for my birthday? She then stood by awkwardly while we looked at the receipt and picked up the receipt before we left to check the tip, less than 60 seconds after filling the receipt. It’s a real shame we’ve had this experience here because the food is great, but just like in baseball it’s 3 strikes you’re out. Unfortunately these waitresses must have a good connection with the restaurant because they behave like they own it. There are plenty other thai places and I will not be returning my business here again. Ps- we left a 18% tip that night as always because we like to be generous but the service...
Read moreThai Kitchen Restaurant - One of those places you decide to go to where you can be pretty confident in the dining experience as well as available vegan options. I had the Volcano Chicken which is one of the "House Specials" - I ordered it in the "Hot" variant. Even though the name is volcano and I got it in the hot heat level it would make you think they'd reconsider the name of the dish. The dish had a very mild heat level in my opinion. I am fully aware I'm dining in Tabby & Karen's neighborhood of Fishers so what seems mild to me might be scorching hot to Tabby and unbearable for Karen. The quality of the dish was quite nice. The chicken was crispy and the rice and veggies were cooked very good. I do personally think flavor was slightly lacking. My girlfriend settled for the yellow curry with tofu. Surprisingly, her tofu curry had more flavor than my own dish and it was also quite good. We shared some tofu salad rolls as an appetizer which are a pretty good light appetizer. The service was 7/10 - when walking in the host/server wasn't all that polite and I think she assumed we were carryout people. The server wasn't incredibly polite and but not rude - I think she can improve - Now, the drink refill girl was on top of our drinks and I do praise that. All in all this is a good dining experience but I do wish the service were just a bit more polite and the food have just a bit more flavor. Will I come back here? Yes, however, Thai Ocha is closer to me, cheaper, and in my experience the flavor is better. But! I've only experienced this establishment one time - the environment is much nicer. I do look forward to returning and giving Thai Kitchen another try.
