Went to Al Basha for the lunch buffet on a Friday. Their buffet is available on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. We sat ourselves. There was one guy working, but he never came to get a drink order or greet us in anyway. We asked if we could just start and he nodded.
There was a huge selection of food. One section of the buffet had cold dishes like hummus and pasta salad. The other section had hot foods under covers. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and only had one other dine-in diner while we were there. However there were huge quantities of food. It looked like probably 3 or 4 times as much food as they could possibly need, based on the number of diners we saw. We arrived around 1pm, and their buffet ends at 4. Also, there was a pan of fish sitting out, neither being warmed or cooled by either buffet station. We had serious food safety misgivings.
The quality of the food was not great, either. The chicken was VERY tender, but had no flavor. The gyro meat was dry, and flavorless. It felt like it had been reheated many times, although my wife thought the taste was fine. The fish looked like tilapia in shape, but had the texture of very dry, overcooked chicken breast. I am not sure how you achieve that texture with fish. The hummus was good and the pasta salad was okay.
This restaurant has great reviews and we were excited to try for ourselves. However after making it past the first plate, I did not want to try any more. For a $20 lunch buffet, this left much...
Read moreThis isn't my first time visiting this establishment, as I used to live relatively close. I decided that I wanted something quick and not carb-filled while in the middle of rush-hour traffic. I figured I could not go wrong with a nice gyro salad so I made a quick stop. The restaurant is connected to little grocery store where you can shop for Middle Eastern delight. It's very nice to be greeted with a pleasant smile, customer interaction what's a certified 10. Service was rapid as well 10 I guess my issue was with the quality of the food itself. On surface-level it was very aesthetically pleasing to look at, it had unusual weight to it so I know that they weren't being stingy, off to a good start. It's humongous salad came with one small container of tzatziki sauce for the amount of salad which I weighed and it was almost 2lbs. The salad also came with one pita bread. The salad itself had a nice taste, my issue with the salad is that the cucumber and tomatoes were over right, the olives were not pitted so if I wasn't careful I probably would have broken a tooth and of the two lbs it's was 1.75lbs of iceberg lettuce that I could do nothing with. Wow I did enjoy the customer experience I do not think I enjoyed my salad...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience here. When I walked in, I was told the restaurant was about to close and that only sandwiches were available. Moments later, two Arab customers arrived, and the same employee took their order, served them salad and bread, and even offered them a full meal. When I asked again, I was told they could “only do lamb mandi.” It was clear that we were treated differently based on how we looked, which is unacceptable. We’re part of the same Muslim community, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. My brown skin doesn’t make me any lesser than anyone else.
To make matters worse, when I went back to get utensils, the same person who served our food was cleaning the rug with gloves on, then immediately handled the utensils without removing or washing them. That’s not only disrespectful but also unhygienic.
I own three different companies, and I always treat people with respect, kindness, and equality. I expect the same in return. This experience was extremely disappointing. Do better, and learn to treat everyone with the same level of respect and care. Do Not...
