Update: The response below seems like it may be confusing me for someone else. However, my wife spoke to a manager and she was apologetic and worked with us over the phone; I’m happy with the outcome. We will give them another shot in the future.

Original review: Long story short: decent selection, ok prices, rude and elusive staff

I was excited when I arrived because the selection of trees was decent, especially for the time of year, and the prices seemed fair. However, after finding what I wanted (by myself, no offers of help, which seemed odd to me) I wasn’t able to find any employee to help me. I waited and wondered around for 15-20 minutes and eventually I went inside and asked for help. I knew what I wanted and wanted to pay so I could grab it and go. No dice, I was pointed back outside and told I needed to find someone out there to ‘give me a ticket.’ I loaded the trees onto a cart and headed towards the parking lot assuming an employee would appear, and low and behold one did! She seemed angry that she was being bothered to do anything at all. She misinformed me that the trees were 40%off (which would have honestly turned it all around for me) and gave me my golden ticket so I could go inside and pay. Hooray! Inside I was informed that I’d be paying full price. 40% is a big discount to be mistaken about. Frustrated, I paid full price; whatever, I hadn’t thought there was a discount when I chose them so I was willing to let it go. As I left they were closing the gates and the lady that wrote up my ticket glared as me as I left.

I won’t be back, and I’m going to need a lot of plants and trees over the next few years. I’ll be telling my family and friends to avoid this place as well. I’m not able to drop hundreds of dollars on trees often and don’t enjoy feeling like I’m annoying and inconveniencing people when I do. I’m not sure what a smaller nursery thinks they have going for them if they don’t have a helpful or friendly staff... that’s kind of the whole selling point of a local place.

This experience sold me on buying trees online and at big box stores...

Let me just preface this review by saying: I'm clueless about plants and cannot get them to grow at all. Despite this, the nursery staff, Ryan, was so helpful and patient with me as he answered my endless questions, and aided me in making more informed decisions about which shrubs to put in my yard and how to care for them.

With Ryan’s guidance, I purchased 8 plants, and took a risk to do delivery and install through Sullivan while it was on sale instead of using my usual landscaper. Usually, I avoid services from outside companies, because the work is typically subpar and messy, or worse, they end up ruining something in my yard, but I'm so glad I took the risk this time! I was really worried about the installation ruining the new rock (and weed mat) I laid, but Sean, my installer, did such a great job listening to me as we discussed the location and positioning of my flowers and trees, and then planted them without making any mess at all. He went out of his way to pull errant weeds, level any displaced rock, and left the area brighter and more beautiful than it started. It was completely above and beyond what I expected! I’m so impressed by how fast he got it done, too! On top of that, I'm following the advice Ryan gave me and my plants are actually blooming now!! I can't believe it!! Someone give those boys a raise!!!
