Wayback Burgers — Restaurant in Fishers

Made my first trip to Wayback Burger today. Staff was friendly and greeted me when I came in and when I left. I built my own burger, although they have some very interesting standard options. I got the burger and a regular side of fries. The burgers are cooked after you order, like Steak n Shake. So it took a bit for the burger to be ready, but that’s OK as it and the fries were fresh. I got it to go. I found the burger to be correctly prepared and the fries were very good. I got just the regular basic fry. They were a little firm on the outside and soft on the inside and were not limp. The cost is a little on the higher side, but not out of line for freshly made food. I found the portion sizes to be very reasonable. I will return. I suggest that you give them a try.

I was suitably impressed enough to go back today and take my wife with me. I have to add a negative comment to this review. Staff were friendly and food was very tasty and cooked in a reasonable amount of time. However, they mixed parts of the two burgers so, that neither my wife nor I got exactly what we ordered. I got her cheese and she got mine. We would have just swapped the cheese, but we have different tastes in toppings so, we just left it. We thought about sending them back, but didn’t want to wait for them to be cooked again. I wanted to like this place, as it's a new offering in Fishers. My family has been to this restaurant chain elsewhere and liked it. Unfortunately, after three attempts, I'm not coming back. I can get better food for less money elsewhere.

#1 - To go order, everything was soggy and bland. But it was to go, so I decided to try again.

#2 - In person order, reasonably quick delivery of food, food was hot but classic burger was overwhelmed with the taste of mustard. Burger itself didn't seem to have any seasoning or flavor. Fries were hot. I'll try one more time.

#3 - In person order, quick delivery of food, but steakhouse burger still had no flavor or seasoning.

The other problem with eating in person, at least on visits 2 and 3, is that there is a staff member who just walked back and forth in the aisles, over and over again, never really stopping to clean anything, pick up trays, etc. since people bussed their own tables. His constant proximity to our table made my wife really uncomfortable and she said that if she was here by herself, she would have left.

Keeping the restaurant clean is fine, but given that there are less than a dozen tables in a pretty tiny space, have the staff member do something else behind the counter until it's time to clean. I ordered plain Cajun burger with just tomatoes and lettuce and I repeatedly told her no sauce/cheese because I’m lactose intolerant and then I ordered large garlic Romano fries. After receiving my order, I checked it just to see unseasoned burgers with cheese on it and unseasoned regular fries so NOT EVEN LARGE. And the employee taking my order was wonderful and generous and was even going to give me a free milkshake but the person behind all these problems was the manager Essence Miller. She said no you have to online order it even though the sign said free milkshakes come with burgers. Then I told her to season my fries because she didn’t and she said “no he didn’t get that” and the employee had to show her my receipt and then she finally seasoned it. Now mind you I’m in a hurry because it was my lunch break in work so I just took my meal and left but of course when I get to my place I unwrap the burger to see it not plain with cheese on it and I just had to throw it away because I didn’t have time.
