So our second visit to Faro's finally happened today. Pretty laid back day for us so we decided to return for an afternoon pizza and salad. In order to set the tone, there was one other couple finishing up when we arrived and a second table of 4 that came in about 10 min after us.
Lets address a key issue from our initial visit, noise. This one is hard to evaluate as there was only a few people in the entire restaurant. From what we can tell, they have decided to masked the voice/overall noise with piped in music. It doesn't seem to be as bad as our first visit but again, hard to tell. Based on our impression I'd have to say it might be slightly better.
Now on to the food: Pre-made Pizza remains as the norm for this restaurant. Nothing has changed in that regard. Pizza is made fresh in the morning (Per the waitress 11-11:30 am) then reheated throughout the day as selections are served. Upon our arrival, I asked our waitress which Pizza we could order that was made fresh. She stumbled over this question badly. I asked again rephrasing my question and after several attempts we where able to order a Vegan Pizza that was made to order along with a basic Chickpea salad with a lemon flavored dressing. I purposely ordered the Vegan pizza because a previous review stated that it was outstanding/best ever. The waitress also when on to tell us that "it was to die for." So we proceeded with our order.
When the salad finally arrived in was less than memorable. the Arugula was wilted with a handful of canned chickpeas at best with some nearly invisible portions of celery, mushrooms and tomato. For the $8.00 dollars we could have had a better salad just about anywhere.
Now on to the Pizza...after waiting for at least 20-30 minutes we received a colorful pizza but everything else about it was terrible. The thin crust was hard and over-cooked while the pizza itself lacked any sense of basic flavor. There was nothing good about it!
I think you get the point here, I could go on but for some this might be okay. However for us it continues to be a horrible place to eat. So many other great choices exist locally.
Now there continue to be some good points, the atmosphere remains a pretty nice. It's smartly decorated, comfortable with a pretty sweet ocean view.
However, after spending $50 plus dollars for lunch I kind of would have expected a decent meal to go along with that view. Unfortunately Faro's continues to fall way short of what is truly an acceptable dining experience. We gave it a second chance and Faro's failed miserably.
Should you decide to try this for yourself GOOD LUCK.
If you do find yourself in the area looking for lunch or dinner please try one of the many other restaurants in Flagler Beach...you'll be glad you did!
First Impression*** Three Stars This is a totally new local business...that's trying hard to please. Unfortunately, it falls short in few areas. First off, the noise level is off the charts. I have to think that with a little planning they could have figured this out. Acoustic tiles on the ceiling would be priority number one. As for the pizza, well...very doughy, lacks flavor and choices are Helter Skelter. I so wanted to love this place but it's not quite there yet. Location, atmosphere, decor and layout are spot on, beer selection is also pretty good. However the pizza, falls way short of something I'd return for. I'll certainly give them time to improve and come back with an update in 6 months. Staff is super friendly and working...
Read moreI had the opportunity to visit FARO’s in Flagler Beach, FL this evening. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and modern atmosphere when entering the restaurant. While the inside of the restaurant was a bit small, it was still nice and cozy and provided an enjoyable environment to have a bite to eat. Regarding the bathrooms, I feel that it (Men’s) was spotless when you acknowledge that the restaurant is across the street from the beach.
When it comes to the food at this location, I have some mixed feelings and feel that I am on the fence about potentially returning to this location in the future. The Onion & Sausage soup was amazing and had great flavor. The pizza slices, on the other hand, were alright, and truthfully, I found nothing special about them in any way. In fact, one of my pizza selections was served burnt and that really upset me and took away from my experience with this restaurant.
Another factor that surprised me is that all their pizza selections come pre-made, and that also took away from my perceptions/ experience while dining at this establishment. My waiter (Carmelo 4A), was nice and it appeared that they were short-staffed during my visit. I observed my waiter performing multiple duties and responsibilities including servicing and running into the back to also prepare food.
Overall, he was amiable and handled the situation he was faced with very well considering limited staffing. While I am overall not satisfied with my first visit with this organization, I am opened minded to return in the future and hopefully have a more positive experience. This being said, I would recommend you give this establishment a try because your experience might be totally different from mine and that is ok with me as well.
For now, I hold firm on a three-star rating but will return in the future to see if my opinion can...
Read moreHORRIBLE experience! I rated Faro’s 1 star because ZERo star was not possible. I made reservations two days prior, for a 70th birthday for my mother; reservations were for 10, outside only because of my moms current health issues and the need to reduce any covid exposure. When we showed up, all the outside tables were full. I asked the young man at the counter about our reservation and he looked confused. He later came out to tell us that they didn’t have a reservation for that evening and that it might have been mistakenly put on the night before. When I went inside to look at possible tables for my mother, the owner, Who never had the courtesy to come outside and tell me our reservations were forgotten, quickly came rushing out and said, no no, no, you can’t have those tables, they’re reserved. I told her our situation and she said I’m really sorry, and walked away. It was quite obvious that she didn’t care at all, and was either really busy or just had no human empathy abilities. Either way, one of my favorite restaurants has just pushed itself down to the bottom of the list. Faro’s went to the bottom, not only because when they realized they missed our reservation they did not try to amend this problem, whatsoever, but they also brushed it off with such a cold, and incompassionate demeanor, for our situation. Buyer beware, although they have great food, and they will definitely attend to a couple on short notice dining at a side table, do not make reservations for a large party just to Find out it didn’t go through. I don’t think they can handle the business but they’re not willing to say...
