Been to the Pelican a few times when we stay at Flagler. Always been pretty good and on par with the reviews. I had nothing significant to add or detract, so I left no reviews. That changed today. We walked in a little before 2pm and were seated by the hostess. She was very friendly and welcoming. We were seated at a nice table overlooking the ocean. Our waitress soon came by and acknowledged us. She was busy and said she’d be with us soon. She came by and took our drink and appetizer order. The two beers I selected weren’t available, so I picked another. My wife’s drink came, but not my beer. I get it…they’re having to pour my 3rd choice. Appetizer came, but no beer. Then I saw my beer be poured at the bar, and there it sat….and sat. No waitress to be seen. Oh, there she is, engaged in a lengthy conversation with another table. Beer getting warmer…still talking. Beer getting warmer, now she’s checking on other tables. I’m oddly fixated on the table across from me with bird poop on it that’s been there for a while. Beer getting warmer. Now, I just want to leave. Finally she goes to the bar where she sees my warming, flat beer. Pour a fresh one? Oh no! She takes a straw AND STIRS IT TO RECREATE THAT FRESHLY POURED HEAD!!! Warm beer cheerfully delivered to our table. Check please! We’re off to somewhere else. Why would you blatantly do this to a paying customer? We had planned on staying for more drinks and a late lunch, just like we always do when we visit. That plan was ruined. That warm $7 beer cost her at least an extra $15-$20 in tip, and the restaurant, too. It’s just disappointing. We’ve been looking forward to our Flagler trip and for months. This is how it started off. They can do better. EDIT: To add insult to injury, I just realized the waitress charged me for the beer I wanted but they didn’t have AND the warm beer. You got me Funky Pelican, but never again!!! Where is the zero star selection? 😡 UPDATE: I was contacted by customer service regarding our experience there and my review. The GM offered to refund our tab. It was never about the money, so I asked him to donate any refund to the charity they support, the Seawolf Privateers. While I appreciate the offer, it still doesn’t change the fact that the intentional act of attempting to deceptively pass a warm, flat beer to a customer is an indication of deeper issues. However, I will amend my review to two stars based in the fact that management at least tried to...
Read moreI wasn't going to write a review but something has come to light since my visit a short while ago. The food is as expected it should be but nothing spectacular, I have had better at comparable pricing. The SERVICE and ATTITUDES however leave much to be desired. It took a while to get anyone to speak to about issues, when they arrived, it was as dismissive as could possibly be. This is why my lack of desire to review, I figured this is their status quo and everyone already knows how they are. Yes, I was told they would look into my complaint (but have yet to hear back from them after quite a wait) thier tone told me they hear complaints often and were just brushing me off (further proof in that I have not been contacted). The issue that came up, which pushed me to review, is their blatant disrespect for people's rights. I am not a vet. but I DO FULLY SUPPORT them and thank them for their service and sacrifices. I heard they called local PD to trespass a citizen FROM THE SIDEWALK who was supporting HOMELESS VETERANS there by VIOLATING HIS RIGHTS as well as using EXCESSIVE FORCE in doing so! This establishment HAS NO RIGHT NOR CONTROL over the sidewalk nor any ability to inflict harm or their will on anyone, standing on PUBLIC PROPERTY, EVEN IF it is in front of their establishment. I didn't review until I ACTUALLY SAW the police body cam footage myself. I wasn't going to write this without proof. If you wish to ignore my review, so be it, but first re-read the service and food quality portion before doing so, this may show how genuine my review is despite their actions which prompted...

Our group of three families, consisting of 12 people (6 adults and 6 kids), recently had the pleasure of dining at Funky Pelican during our vacation. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed warmly and seated promptly, despite our large party size.
Our waitress, Ginny, was absolutely amazing. She not only provided excellent service but also went above and beyond to ensure our diverse dietary needs were met. Ginny worked seamlessly with her co-worker, Richie, to make sure everything was perfect for us. Their teamwork and dedication truly enhanced our dining experience.
Now, let’s talk about the food—simply put, it was phenomenal! We started with the gator bites, which were perfectly seasoned and a delightful introduction to the meal. The jambalaya was packed with flavor, boasting a rich blend of spices that was just right. The seafood combos were the highlight, offering a generous variety of fresh and delicious seafood that satisfied everyone at the table.
The ambiance of the restaurant added to our enjoyment. It’s a fantastic spot to soak in the local flavor while enjoying some of the best seafood we’ve had in a long time. The views and setting create a relaxed and inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for both families and groups.
In summary, Funky Pelican exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to explore local cuisine and enjoy fresh seafood. A big thank you to Ginny, Richie, and the entire team at Funky Pelican for making our lunch a memorable experience. We can’t...
