My wife and I had a staycation here, a couple of weeks after the grand opening. At check in, Alanna had a wonderful energy and represents the vibe of the margaritaville hotel quite well. The hotel is still under some minor completion, but the large majority of the facilities were available during our stay (pool, gym, gift shop, bars and restaurants, etc). The hotel itself is beautiful, and the location is ideal, just a block from the ocean. If an ocean view is desirable, higher floors and Eastern facing rooms with a balcony are available. We stayed in a standard room with no balcony, which was not a problem since there's plenty to do in the hotel itself, and the surrounding area. We enjoyed the swimming pool which had plenty of seats available and umbrellas at pretty much every other seat. The room itself was spacious, and had all the standard Margaritaville amenities like a coffee maker, fridge, etc. There are some odd design choices in the room which they may want to think about - the headboard of the bed is solid wood, and there's artwork hung unusually low which essentially makes their artwork an unintended headrest. The shower which was comfortable and offered good water pressure has just a half door, which ensures that there's no way to keep water from splashing onto the bathroom floor, and the shower itself gets the cool air of the room rather than building up a good hot shower. We did get a drink at the bar, and while I wouldn't call the service fast by any means, it aligns with the more relaxed beach vibe. We got the complimentary breakfast the next morning which was one of the better hotel breakfasts I've had. Pricing is pretty standard for a Florida beachfront hotel, and not unreasonably high or unusually low. I did notice that the usual margaritaville reward benefits that I get are not yet implemented at this location. Wi-Fi access was included in the price of the room, and was strong and consistent throughout our stay. We did stop over at the beach and it's an ideal beach for strolling and a quick dip, there were also some surfers out there. The hotel does not have any beach service. Overall, I'd certainly recommend this hotel for friendly front desk service, well appointed rooms, and the...
Read moreConflicted. I want to give it more stars but I might need to revisit when its not "so new & the excuse for whatever is wrong is everything needs tweaking." Had family come to visit, so we all stayed in 2 rooms. While the location just across from the beach is perfect, the bar & dining service was slow. The rooms were smaller than we're used to for "luxury" prices. Clean and confortable...but cramped. And LOUD. We had rooms facing Rt100 (busy main near the traffic light to ocean). We could hear all the traffic, pedestrians, noise from veterans park in front, the bar & grill on the corner across the street from exterior as well as other guests laughing & talking in hallway interior. I dont know what kind of sound dampening materials were used, but they need more. Alot more. We only ate lunch and though well presented and tasted good, service was inattentive & slow. No one checked on our table after ordering & it took forever to get the bill. It was a little busy, but not packed, and the servers really were friendly. We did enjoy the bar drinks, although the margaritas were hit & miss. Some were nice & balanced, others watery, weak. We did not use the pool. It looked small but could be enjoyable. The decor/design vibe is okay for the beachy salty rim Margaritaville theme, but by no means the "luxury in paradise" it is advertised. Easy walking to the bars, restaurants, shops and of course the beach. Easy driving to attractions such as Washington Oaks State Park & Gardens, Marine Land Dolphin Adventures, Bings Landing, Fort Matanzas and other beaches. Its a welcome addition to the Flagler Beach oceanfront and I would recommend, if visitors wanted to stay on beachside & didnt want to drive through town to the other hotels. Definitely a...
Read moreWe opted to have dinner at the hotel’s Salty Rim Bar & Grill. Great location, lots of parking. ||Not too crowded, which ended up being a good thing because the acoustics were not good. It was difficult for my friend and I to have a conversation until several tables left. Apology #1 from our server. ||The menu isn’t huge, but it had enough variety for us to have a meal. Their glasses of wine were reasonably priced. $9 for a 5 oz pour of Meiomi is decent for the beach. ||We started with a trio of dips and freshly made nacho chips. The guacamole & home made salsa were delicious, but the queso was so cool, it had a layer of film on top. Apology #2. ||My friend opted for the Caesar salad with shrimp and I had the Caribbean chicken salad. ||My friend took the shrimp home to her cat, because something tasted off to her. Apology #3. ||I loved my huge salad. I suspect there was a full 8 ounces of chicken in it & the mango ranch salad dressing was delicious. Our server offered to give me a little extra mango dressing, since I was taking home about 2/3s of my salad. I confess I was a bit surprised to see a charge for it on my bill. Not much, but if there was going to be a charge, I should have been informed ahead of time. She apologized (#4) and I suspect she might have been fairly new because she did a great deal of apologizing. Several things were out of her control, so she was apologizing for the House.||My friend and I said if we returned to the hotel, we would head up to the rooftop bar for a drink and maybe order the trio of dips - we would definitely ask for the cheese to at least be warm. But we would eat dinner elsewhere. ||Now if the menu changes with the seasons, we might...
