This small local gem has been a cornerstone of stability in my routine during COVID. It's got a cozy Parisian cafe vibe with a charming gift selection, including products from some local makers. The coffee is consistently great and the pastries are incredible (I've tried almost everything on the menu). Everyone I've interacted with has been kind and provided excellent service.
It's easy to see that significant care has been put into the crafting an design of the space; I come every week and something small has shifted every time - perhaps seasonal decor, a new gift section, or a seasonal item on their blackboard menu.
On top of all that, they've done a great job navigating COVID. They have been perfectly clear from the start regarding their safety measures and boundaries as a business. Hand sanitizer is available and the COVID safety measures (such as line markers) are easy to follow and have been beautifully integrated into the design of the space. As such, I have always felt perfectly safe patronizing this coffeehouse.
Being greeted by a friendly and familiar face each week and enjoying a coffee and a pastry in their outside seating has provided a soothing sense of normalcy and routine that I can't overstate. I'm grateful to Cedar House for staying open and keeping our bellies filled and hearts warm...
Read moreThis bakery has THE best coffee and pastries in Flagstaff and we're SO lucky it's in the neighborhood - there's no need to go anywhere else!! Unfortunately, we literally cannot go if we're on any sort of time crunch. Depending on who is working, the lack of hustle is borderline disrespectful. Today finally inspired us to leave a review - we waited 20 minutes for one coffee with just 3 drinks ahead of us. One employee walked off as soon as the drink orders came in, leaving the other to handle pastry orders. When she came back, both chatted for a few minutes then seemed to remember there were orders waiting. They kept chatting while one started making a drink. We checked in, were told ours was up next, and then they turned back and continued chatting. Two slow drinks later, we got our coffee. What was meant to be a mid-workday treat ended up being a really frustrating experience that caused one of us to be late to a meeting (we really should've just left, but it's so hard to make that call). While a coffee shop should never be faulted for long wait times when slammed, it's pretty upsetting when a long wait is due to the employees not taking their...
Read moreI think I just ordered the wrong thing, because it was too sweet for me and tasted just like melted ice cream. EXTREMELY DELICIOUS, but I should have ordered the Lavender Latte--my cousin's drink, which was a perfect blend of coffee, fat (milk), sweetness, and herbal (lavender) flavor. Perfect for those who actually like the taste of black coffee. Pastries taste FRESH as hell, highly reccomend anything topped with fruit.
It's very nicely decorated, but feels very gentrified. Of course, I am not native to the area, so maybe it's just my pretentious Phoenix perspective clouding my judgement. They played decent smooth jazz/bossa nova music at a reasonable volume, and the stools weren't uncomfortable. Great place for people watching, staring out the window, reading, or otherwise spending time quietly with yourself or a friend.
Service was phenominal. Just one woman out front running the show and staying composed and on top of things. All while being polite and attentive! As well as tolerant of my and my cousin's stupid questions. I hope she gets...
