Bring Cash...they do not accept credit or debit...they will take checks. I ate here 5 years ago and swore I wouldn't go back, but here I found myself today. To be fair the staff is awesome the atmosphere offers nostalgic route 66 diner. I was a bit early for BBQ but had time on my hands so I figured to wait it out. Sadly they rushed it ready. The fries look better in the picture than in actual lighting conditions. The merengue was light and airy the lemon filling perhaps better yesterday. When asked how everything was I inquired if this is what the fries always looked like. Dark burned and greasy as one can see in the picture. I was told yes, but they offered a redo and the second batch was nicely done. I would try the burgers instead. The fries on other tables looked delightful. Locals frequent the establishment perhaps they thought me a traveler never to be seen again cash in hand I was free to go. Again the staff makes the place. There were many tasty dishes passing by so I may find myself there soon again but with a closer look at the menu and not judging a burger place by its BBQ. I added a third star because the staff was great but a hamburger place ought to have signature fries because yeah I want...
Read moreAfter reading some of the less than stellar reviews, I felt compelled to write one. First of all, Miz Zip's is not fine dining, it's an old fashioned sit down cafe with a really quaint counter seating area, and it serves American fare; stuff you might find gussied up at your local sports bar but at twice the price. If you're looking for a gourmet burger, go to Diablo Burger and pay $14. If you're just looking for a "good" burger at a decent price, or a nice filling breakfast, with a little bit of nostalgia tossed in for free, go to Zip's. Don't go to Zip's expecting to be "wowed" with fancy food. Go there to remember what going out to the local cafe used to be before fast food took over and before we all cared about eating gluten free. And if you go there, give yourself a little time to actually sit and talk to each other while you're eating; and if your food takes a few minutes to get there, enjoy each other a bit more. The service is just fine, and if you're really feeling sociable, talk to your waitress....
Read moreService was awesome. I ordered eggs scrambled lightly, extra brown hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. The eggs were "extra" cooked, overcooked by anyone's standards. The hash browns were more like hash whites (see picture). The gravy was cold...and when it came back hot, it had a very strong metallic taste. It was pretty much a disaster. I wanted to get the chicken fried steak but they said they didn’t have any yet, which seemed odd for a breakfast restaurant with it listed on the menu. They said that no one could cut the steak until later in the day. I can say that everything was clean and the waitress had an attitude as bright as the sun. She was lovely. But at the end of the day, you come into a restaurant for the food. It’s worth mentioning that a customer nearby ordered wheat bread with no butter. They got it wrong three times...no kidding. Not sure what’s up with the kitchen but the whole meal was so bad. I’ll...
