**I’ve only received carryout delivery through delivery apps. The Malai Kofta was pretty good and the sauce was delicious although the vegetable balls weren’t very fresh. I also got the paneer pakora which was great.
The Saag Paneer is pretty good definitely 5 stars.
Although it’s one of my favorites, I’m always hesitant to order Dal Makhni from a new Indian restaurant. But in my opinion, it’s where an Indian restaurant really shows its true colors. Dal Makhni should have a very buttery texture and the lentils and other beans used should be cooked very long to become very soft and melt in your mouth, hence the “butter” in the name. There is indeed butter in Dal Makhni but the main idea is that it has a buttery consistency.
So many times I’ve ordered it at a restaurant and it’s a hard texture because the lentils and beans are not cooked thoroughly, and it completely ruins the dish. Due to the other good items I figured I’d put Grill of India to the test and they utterly failed. The beans and lentils were all hard. I know they used black lentils and kidney beans but there seemed to be another bean possibly chick pea? They were all grainy and hard.
This is my test for an Indian restaurant because it shows how much they really care about the food and are careful with the time and preparation. The only reason they would be hard is because someone didn’t take the time to cook the beans and lentils, which truthfully could take hours to make soft. A lot of Indian dishes can be prepared quickly and consist more of blending the spices to make the curry, but Dal Makhni needs time.
I hate being disappointed like this when really they know better. Every dish should offered by a restaurant should stand out and be done correct. If they are unable to then it’s no need to have on the menu. I hope that Grill of India would receive my complaint well and should consider reimbursing this item as it wasn’t cooked properly. If not I understand, I’ll likely still order occasionally but I’ll be more careful with what I...
Read moreHello, I was visiting this restaurant for lunches and dinner more so now the temperatures has decreased & knew I could rely on them for a warm meal.
My most recent visit was not pleasant. I felt as if other customers were treated with better care than I.
I first walked into the restaurant. I was not greeted as they felt as if maybe I was a return customer and didn’t need a proper greeting. Also, one of the line workers was a bit rude. I was getting food from the buffet. He cut right in front of me to grab food for himself or maybe others in the kitchen. Another issue I had was the waiter had seen my water was empty. He put the pitcher of water on my table and continued to clean other tables. Finally, I go to the desk to check out. I was not welcomed with a closing of “how was everything” or “Was your experience good” or simply a hello, it was my total only. I had heard the same individual pleasantly greet others and tell them to enjoy their meal, but I was only welcomed with a total for my bill and for me to re-water my drink while the waiter cleaned other tables.
I am very unpleased as I had been a return customer for years. I see that there is a divide on how certain customers are treated (based on ethnicity) more so than others. I will say, unfortunately I will not be returning back to this restaurant as I feel like I was discriminated against something that hurts...
Read moreWe have never had the buffet here, always ordering off the menu and enjoying fantastic food. We tried the buffet today and it was like eating at a different restaurant, it was terrible! The only food that was even warm were the soups; lentil which was delicious with a nice hint of spice and chicken soup which was absolutely disgusting. The chicken soup has an off taste reminiscent of dish water with a few microscopic pieces of overcooked tough chicken in the bottom of the pot. The only meat on the buffet was chicken served 4 ways. They had their typical dry as shoe leather tandoori chicken (which we ordered in the past and knew was not good) was dry, the butter chicken was tasteless, the chili chicken was very good but left a grease puddle and a fourth one which was tasteless. The naan was dry, the vegetables overcooked, the lemon rice tasted like regular white rice and the vegetable pakora was greasy and doughy. What a horrible buffet,...
