Hands-down the rudest, worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant in my life. Having had worked in the restaurant industry for over five years, I am extremely understanding and fair to fellow servers, even to the point of defending them when I overhear another patron complaining about he or she taking too long on a busy night. Last Friday night, my family and I were excited to come here for family dinner. We waited for an hour to be sat, no problem, I get it--they were busy. After we were finally seated, we waited and waited and watched server after server walk by tending to the surrounding tables around us for about 20 minutes without even being greeted once or asked if we could be started on some waters or ANYTHING., let alone even acknowledged. Finally, my mom asked one of the many servers walking by if she knew who our server would be. She said she did not know, but graciously provided us some beverages to get us started. When our assigned server FINALLY came over after about half an hour of us just sitting and waiting, (we should have just walked up and left), she had the nastiest attitude of all time and acted as if we were doing HER a disservice, like we were just scum on the street. During the course of the night, my mom and I asked for lemons for our water THREE times---never brought out. My mom asked for brown sugar for her sweet potato was told that they were all out of both brown sugar and normal sugar so she brought out some cinnamon instead (????) Not sure how a restaurant could run out of all sugar, we thought she was joking. My mom's salad was brought out with no dressing. When she asked the server if she could please have some dressing, she literally said to her "Dig around, I'm sure you'll find some in there" and then walked away. I was also told twice that they cannot butterfly steaks there, even though I let her know that I always get them like that every time I came in. It took me having to ask for the manager for the manager to tell me that they can, the server was just wrong. The sad thing is that she got VERY nice when the bill came and did a 180 and actually told us that it was a pleasure serving us tonight. We all were so blown away we after that comment that we have treated this experience as a running joke that can compare other restaurants to when we think something else is even slightly bad. I will not be coming into Flint to dine again, we should have gone to the Clarkston location instead. Most unaccommodating service ever, it was just filled with no's and I can'ts or no response at...
Read moreFirst off, I'm disabled and my date and parked in front of the restaurant. On a Friday night there seemed to more staff than patrons. We asked for a booth. We were led to a booth in back of the restaurant.....there were only 2 farther from the door! Walked by empty booths everywhere. I think this was done on purpose. Second, I asked for a Guiness and was told no, we dont carry it. Then, the only rib eye steak they had was 13 ounces. My date ordered and I asked if I could get shrimp instead of lobster on filet mignon and lobster combo. Again, NO. So I'm looking at the menu and some other woman came and basically dropped my dates salad in front of her! I hadn't even ordered yet! She looked at me and I looked her and then looked at the salad. The whole vibe of the restaurant felt cold towards us and we were nothing more than an inconvenience. I said at this point let's go. We went down the road to the Texan Steakhouse and got great service, food and the place was packed! Our bill came to $76.00 and I left the waitress a $20.00 tip. A restaurant with no customers on a Friday night is a restaurant to avoid. There's a reason for that. I will never go to Outback again after the treatment we got. I can't rate on the food, we never got that far. Why should I help you? This isn't the first time I've had a problem at your restaurant. The first time was when my friend had to go search for someone to pay. I went outside and lit a cigarette and was bum rushed by your staff like we weren't going to pay. I was just standing there. Why wasn't I running? You sent me coupons then. Coupons won't fix this because I won't be back. My date wanted to go there, I didn't. After the way we were treated, your restaurant has problems! The amount of people in the dining room on a Friday night proved that. Now you want me to enroll to contact you? I don't think so. Bring a salad when everybody at the table hadn't ordered set the tone. It was the way she set it down also.....felt like we were at Mel's Diner! Before that, make me walk farther from the door to a booth than from the car to the front door.....carrying an oxygen machine and a cane! I think the word is out about you and I don't see you surviving. We had a great time once we left and went to a busy restaurant and were professionally served.....and treated...
Read moreWorst dining experience at an outback ever. Not super busy, terrible server with a million excuses. Wings have changed to something anemic looking. Just an all around bad meal. Half made Cobb salad, sad sirloin, and no dressings or dips brought with meal and zero urgency or acknowledgment from server who was more interested in deep discussions with people then actually placing orders, bringing food and refilling beverages.
Management was also not effective at correcting situation. When you have to ask for a manager twice there is a problem. I'm patient to a fault, but when other tables seated and ordering 10 minutes after you get food 10-15 minutes prior to you something has gone wrong. (Four person party not 20) We have had marginal service here before and but this is the last time.
The worst thing was when the server had multiple discussions out loud in hearing range of our table about the issues he was having with our table.
I heard the phrase sorry I'm not being as attentive and not refilling to all four tables he was serving. There is usually another employee nearby that can be recruited to help catch up in the event of poor seating (four tables in ten minutes, but this was compounded by three ten minute discussions about his personal preferences instead of just hustling a little bit.
Blamed the kitchen staff saying that the cooks have to hand out dressing and sauces . If that is the case then outback is doomed to failure.
Management did knock off appetizers and after a discussion with the next level up manager about exactly what had occured 1/3 of the bill. Honestly if things get to the point of manager level 2 just void the Check and let people leave instead of being held hostage. And no, a desert is not a good offer when everything else has gone sideways.
Won't be back....
