My family and I only gave this particular Huddle House another chance because they are supposed to be under new management, and the Waffle House across the street we had originally planned on eating at was completely packed. The parking lot was relatively clean, but the foyer was littered with dead insects and cigarette butts. The main entry door was opened into the store about 6-inches, so of course my wife pushed inward to open it the rest of the way, only to find out it is a Pull-Door, so that was an uncomfortable shock to start off with. The inside of the restaurant appeared to be relatively clean. There was only one other table taken when we entered, so we sat at the booth adjacent to the register on the right hand side of the store. We did not have to wait long at all for our waitress to address us, but she inadvertently flung the menus on the table and into us as she was doing a spin to speak to her manager who was passing behind her- joked this away, because accidents happen, and it was clear she did not mean to do it. She then took our drink order of: two Dr. Peppers, one Pepsi, one Sweet Tea. When she brought our drinks back to the table, she just sat them all down and informed us she forgot which was which, and we would need to figure it out on our own. All of us being immediate family, this again was not a huge deal, but we do still prefer to not have someone else's backwash when the opportunity arises, lol. She gave us a very reasonable amount of time to look over the menu before she returned, informed us she did not have a working pen, began to walk away, but then turned right back around. My wife attempted to order the 2 Egg Ribeye Steak Meal; to which the waitress said she would have to check with the cooks on, and stepped away for a few moments. When she returned, she informed us she still did not know if they had steak or not because "People got attitudes and don't know how to answer people." She still kept questioning my wife on her order, as if there would be steak, only for the manager to yell from the back as soon as my wife was done that there in fact was not any steak. They did not give us any fries with our Huddle Up Sampler, and seemed agitated when we informed them they had not and asked for them. I ordered a bowl of Bacon Cheddar Grits, which should have had the bacon chopped up into small pieces and mixed into the grits, per the picture... Just got a bowl of grits with bacon on the side. As far as the bacon getting mixed in, if it was to be, it was up to me. We also noticed on the check that even though these were clearly labeled as Bacon Cheddar Grits, and she had asked me very clearly what cheese I wanted, the cheese turned out to be extra, even though the item itself rang up as Bacon Cheddar Grits. The rest of the table finished ordering, our waitress walked over to the register that was well within earshot of us, and we all started to converse at our table as she was putting our order in. She then began to just speak over us, asking even more questions about our orders that she clearly should have been asking when she was taking the orders, which led my wife not getting any toast with her meal, and us somehow paying extra for a side of toast for my meal. While we were waiting on our meal, my son peeled off to the restroom, that returned almost immediately. He said that it was very disgusting in there and he didn't want to "risk it." There is also a very telling sign on the bathroom door that informs customers that the convenience store this Huddle House is connected to is not responsible for the bathroom. My wife and I were in need of a refill for about 3/4 of our time there, I finally stopped the waitress to ask her myself even though she'd been back to our table several times, and she informed me that "You gone have to wait, sir. I'm a big girl and that's a long walk." She then brought us four to go cups, sat them all down, and informed us once again that she didn't know which was which. However, the actual food itself was just fine. $74 for that...
Read moreBoth cooks and the waitress were really great. Really personable and pleasant. Menu literally states “Scrambled well done”. I also verbally requested it. My eggs came out scrambled but wet and not near well done. They were pretty though but I could not partake. The Jalapeño Poppers were fried hard on the outside, and technically empty inside (other than the 3-4 bits of jalapeño and the thought of cheese brushed on) I think the grits were fine, but the nearly quarter stick of butter melting on top turned me off. I poured off as much as I could and I was able to take a few bites. We ordered 2 ice waters. We don’t drink sodas or juices. They both came out pink. I just asked for straight ice once I noticed, wasn’t a big deal. Hash brown wasn’t horrible. Sadly, they share a bathroom with the gas station and someone was suffering from severely loose stool that day. By the amount of displaced brown markings around the bowl, it could have been a large child. I don’t imagine that’s huddle houses fault but, hey.. I squatted in the remaining stall and made my way. The staff were all super...
Read moreUpdate! This Huddle House is under new management 👏 Chris is back so you know the food is awesome! 👏
Now we have to update and say the cheese steak omlet was delicious 😋
We stopped at this Huddle House on Thanksgiving, finding Jessica cheerfully serving us, Chris came out to greet us with a smile. Both of these people gave us excellent customer service! The food prepared by Chris was hot and fresh! These two employees gave us a five star experience!! Thank you!
However now that Chris has left, the food is not as good. One waitress was covering floor alone and no new server showed up. I mean Wendy is like Superwoman. She cooks, cleans and serves. I am a former server and Wendy is the best waitress/cook/side-work. Honestly they should make Wendy a manager and get Chris back 😑 and the owner stay at home unless they specifically need him. He has cameras, as which is good, and I miss my favorite, server/cook combination because Chris knew over easy eggs doesn't...
