I wish I could have given zero stars for them. Absolutely horrible experience, if you’re looking for good hospitality and nice food better find some other place don’t waste money here. Our first glimpse was awful, we entered into the restaurant and at the greeting area we saw manager and a waiter staring at us, they didn’t greet there is no smile, they didn’t even talk to us until we asked if there are any tables to sit. After this horrible first sight we finally ordered our food, chicken and shrimp fajitas and spinach chicken with rice and beans. This is where it all started, the spinach chicken has spinach and bacon sauce on it and we dont eat bacon so we asked our waiter if he can take off bacon sauce and just give us spinach sauce he said yes!! When we got our order there was just grilled chicken rice and salad. We were wondering where was the spinach sauce for the chicken, we asked him and he said wait ill get spinach we thought he forgot about the sauce instead he brought grilled spinach which looked sloppy, we clearly explained him again we need the spinach sauce that comes with it, he went back brought spinach and cheese dip which looked like spinach in watery milk. As we were hungry we started eating it and the spinach dip was way too salty we asked him to take that off because we couldn’t eat it. We explained our problem to another waitress and she said sorry. Finally when the check came in thy charged us for the spinach chicken but the entire time all they gave us was two hard rock like baked chicken rice and salad. There is another item in the menu which is just what we ate chicken rice salad which is less expensive than this, we asked the manager if they can charge us for that item chicken rice and salad which we actually ate besides the spinach chicken because that’s what they served us instead of spinach chicken. Inorder to make them understand this i had to talk to 4 different people explain them everything and my concerns and in the end they charged me regular item price and was very rude!! I’m never coming back to this place. They don’t know how to communicate and they lack in...
Read moreI loved San Jose's T & T. I normally never post reviews. But I'm making an exception because San Jose's was exceptional.
This restaurant is nestled among a half dozen business traveler hotels. It's new, upscale and inviting from the outside. But I wasn't expecting much.
It's not a typical Mexican restaurant. I would say it's more coastal, more Caribbean influenced. Great seafood, citrus, fresh ingredients. More similar to what I've had in Cancun, or even in Puerto Rico.
I ordered Ceviche Tropical from the appetizer menu. It was the best I've ever had. Very reasonably priced, very large portion. It was bright, fresh, made to order. The fish was very fresh. The tomatoes fresh. A nice balance in the citrus. Very fresh mango. Beautifully cut, fresh avocado. Micro-bits of jalapeno peppers add just a little heat. This compared to the best ceviche in San Juan Puerto Rico.
I also ordered the Flaca Salad. I expected a simple green garden salad. Instead it was complex, many ingredients, beautifully presented. With a light citrus vinaigrette. Not a heavy salad at all, despite the large portion. Also, very reasonably priced.
I finished with the shrimp appetizer (Camarones Gratinodos). And again, large portion. Reasonable price. The shrimp were extremely fresh. Grilled. In drawn butter. The melted cheese on top was not overloaded. Barely covered half the shrimp. Added flavor and texture. Not "glop". I detected a hint of coconut too, but maybe that was the cheese.
Finally, the wait staff was friendly, talkative, and happy.
For a 1-day traveler, this was beyond my...
Read moreJust picked up several entrees and I've tasted all of them--Yes I ordered 4 things all for myself so I can get a wide variety of tastes to see what they make the best. I want to preface with I've lived in Los Angeles for ~15yrs and my Mexican food references are based on food I've had in California. Today I had: Camarones a la Diabla: best I've ever had! I can handle medium heat and I've had all versions of spice level. This was mild but the taste was pretty spectacular; highly recommend. Chile Colorado; right at the medium spice level but not quite there if you're a person worried about heat--not too hot. Also best I've ever had. Highly recommend. Both the 2 previous had good sauce to rice ratio if you're a person that wants some sauce on most bites of rice that you take. Chile Relleno; I will say... This item is very rarely made correctly here in Florence--It's not even close to being made the traditional way. San Jose does make it more, what I would say, traditional however the chile was hard to chew through as if it wasn't softened in some boiling or fried process. So I'm guessing this was just a snafu and I wont complain as the taste was otherwise good. The beef enchilada (it was part of a combo) was fine. Taco Salad: Good Fried Tortilla that acts as the bowl. High meat to everything-else-ratio which is probably a bonus for most people but I'd prefer a little more lettuce and it'd be perfect. Even a quarter less meat and double the lettuce; I'm no chef though. Even with my small complaints which aren't even complaints, still 5 out of 5. ...
