The much-anticipated seafood boil at a local eatery turned out to be a deep disappointment. We waited over an hour for our food. I wasn’t quite sure why it took so long since there were only 2-3 other tables seated.
Served in a large, steaming dish that initially promised a delicious meal, the reality was a letdown from the first touch. The snow crab, a centerpiece of any seafood boil, was inexplicably cold despite the steam wafting from the plate. Even more troubling was its texture: overcooked to the point of being rubbery, which is a clear culinary misstep. A properly cooked crab leg should snap crisply when bent, not limply fold.
As I delved further into the meal, the crab's lack of freshness became apparent. The meat was scarce and lacked the succulence one expects from seafood treated with care. Alongside the crab, a surplus of clams also suffered from the same cold, overcooked fate. Contrarily, the potatoes, sausage, and corn were served hot, leading me to suspect that these elements were not cooked together with the seafood but rather prepared separately and combined only for serving.
This mishmash of temperatures and textures suggested a disjointed cooking process that failed to capture the essence of a true seafood boil, where everything should be infused with flavor while cooking together. When we voiced our concerns, the response was equally disheartening. The waiter and manager offered only a minimal discount, further marred by the unexpected service fee for our party of two, which neutralized any financial reprieve we might have felt.
Despite its convenient location to my workplace, the experience was disheartening enough to deter any future visits. In a city rich with seafood offerings, it’s a cardinal sin to mishandle such a classic dish so profoundly. This restaurant, I'm afraid, has lost a local customer.
Our waiter Chris was very nice and apologetic. Still, we left paying over 100$ and left just about as hungry...

We went for dinner with another couple. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the host and seated immediately since the place was practically empty. The few diners there seem to be enjoying their food.
The inside dining room is pretty dark so we used the flashlight feature on our phones to see and read the menu. It has a nice selection of the usual fare one will find at a typical seafood restaurant. There is a unique choice of a boiled seafood bag combo with a choice of seafood.
Our waitress was pleasant and mostly efficient except for one misunderstanding with a menu item we chose but it was corrected with no problem. All our dinners were well cooked, delivered quickly, and tasted fresh. We eat at several local seafood restaurants in the area so are familiar with the service, food, and practices of management.
We paid our checks, tipping the waitress well, and stopped to look at the cooler in the waiting area to see what is inside. We thanked our host and waitress for a nice meal and left. Overall we had a nice experience EXCEPT for one thing…OUR CHECKs!!!
Under the ‘SUBTOTAL’ is a line titled ‘SERVICE CHARGE!’ at home we worked on the figures and the undeclared charge amount is ‘18 % of the check!!!’ When our friends phoned to ask the host about the added, undeclared charge he told them because a group larger than a party of two would incur the ‘SERVICE CHARGE.’ (So a family of three or more will have to pay extra???) And, that the extra ‘SERVICE CHARGE’ is noted on the menu. Being so DARK inside the dinning room especially makes it difficult to read anything on the menu let alone a notation declaring there is a special ’18 % SERVICE CHARGE’ for parties over two or more!
SO DINERS BEWARE!!! FOR THIS WE WILL NOT RETURN AFTER THE DECEPTIVE WAY THEY HIDE ADDITIONAL CHARGES FROM PATRONS. “FOOL ME ONCE, SHAME ON YOU.” FOOL ME TWICE,...
